The Midwest Dairy Association in partnership with the Nebraska State Dairy Association and Nebraska Dairy Extension are accepting applications for Nebraska Dairy Ambassadors. Applications are due January 15. The full details and application can be found here.

When the VFD regulations go into effect, they will ONLY apply to antibiotics used in the feed! They will not affect other feed use medications such as; ionophores, coccidia, other parasite and insect control drugs, or reproductive control medications. Nebraska State Dairy Association Update

  • Details are being finalized for the 2016 annual dairy convention in Columbus. Featured speakers will talk about hoof care and calf care and management.

  • Midwest Dairy Association and NSDA are planning to hold a crisis preparedness workshop on February 28th in Norfolk. Final details are coming.

  • Midwest Dairy Association held their "Further Down the Path" webinar on December 16th. They key focus was marketing milk and value-added products for the future and communicating the story of dairy to consumers.

  • Check your mail for the 2016 NSDA membership application. The mailing will also include a report of 2015 NSDA activities along with a consent form to register for the 2015 Milk Quality and Production Awards to be presented at the 2016 convention.

  • NSDA will be meeting with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and faculty members that have been identified as part of the the university "dairy team" to discuss the university partnership with Nebraska's dairy producers.

Governor Ricketts has been invited as a speaker for the evening banquet.

Featured speakers include Jan Shearer, Iowa State University and Peter Erickson, University of New Hampshire.

Dr. Shearer will be speaking about hoof care and Dr. Erickson will be speaking about calf care and management.

Grow Nebraska Dairy Update

A dairy summit was held in Lincoln on December 1 hosted by Senator Jerry Johnson. Nearly 20 people representing dairy producers, Farm Bureau, commodities, UNL, AFAN, and more were in attendance. The summit was a brainstorming session on how to bring in processors. The Omaha World Herald wrote an article on the summit.
