BC Bear Facts
May Update: 5/2/21
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE:
Dear Boulder Creek Families,
It is amazing how quickly the school year is coming to an end. With student assessments happening over the next few weeks, there should be less of an assignment load from teachers. Be sure your child maintains good attendance throughout testing, as it can sometimes be uncomfortable to miss class to make up testing. In addition, please be sure your child is getting plenty of sleep, has a good breakfast, and is on time to school during the three-week window of testing. Let’s work together to set them up for an optimal opportunity to show what they learned after all their hard work during this unpredictable school year. They really have come a long way!
There is much to read about below. Please scroll down and watch for the important information that pertains to you. As always, please feel free to reach out to any of our staff members through e-mail if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Tina Croes
Boulder Creek Administrators Offered Up as Water Balloon Targets for Those Who Met Their Reading Goals!
Mrs. Croes, Mrs. Dahlberg, and Mrs. Walker ready for the hundreds of water balloons headed their way! A special thank you to Mrs. McKinnon for her countless hours toward our reading incentive program and to all the Boulder Creek staff members who assisted this year as well!
The K-5 "READING TAKES YOU PLACES" Reading Incentive Comes to an End
Thank you to all of our families for supporting your child during the past six weeks of our annual reading incentive. Those who reached their reading goals earned individual incentives, class incentives, and had the opportunity for random drawing incentives. They earned everything from trinkets to gift cards to pizza parties to a water balloon to throw at their principal and assistant principals. We have had a wonderful time encouraging a love of reading!
8th GRADE GRADUATION
We are happy to announce that as long as we remain in the red tier or better, we will be allowed to hold an outdoor graduation for the Class of 2021. This is great news!
This year's graduation will take place on the Boulder Creek field. We must follow the Covid restrictions for all California graduations. Graduation spectators will have assigned seating, maintain six feet of distance from others (except direct household members), and wear a mask while on the Boulder Creek School grounds.
Boulder Creek's 8th-Grade Graduation will take place on Tuesday, June 1st at 4:00 p.m. Please see the email sent to all 8th-grade parents on May 7th for additional details as well as the electronic link for guest registration. 8th-grade Families, please keep in mind that the 2021 Graduation Plan is subject to change due to the most current COVID restrictions as well as the weather. Our 8th Grade families will be notified when any changes/updates are made.
We are excited to celebrate the Class of 2021!
VIRTUAL OPEN HOUSE IN 2020-21
Like many other annual events that typically encourage large gatherings at school, Open House will be modified this year. Instead of gathering on the school's campus, Open House will come to you via a virtual link(s) from your child's classroom teacher. Together, your family will be able to enjoy some highlights of your child's 2020-21 school year.
Expect to receive your Virtual Open House link(s) from your teacher on Wednesday, May 26th. We all look forward to sharing the great things that happened at Boulder Creek this year!
SPRING SPORTS - WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
The Enterprise Elementary School District (EESD), including Boulder Creek, received a welcome and unexpected surprise when we moved from the purple to the red tier in Shasta County. We are able to offer some outdoor spring sports, and we couldn't be more excited! There are still many restrictions to which we must adhere, but we will take it in order to offer our students some after-school activities again!
All tryouts and practices are closed to parents and other spectators. Please remember, we are still subject to the same Covid restrictions when it comes to students who are ill (any symptoms on the Covid-19 list). Students who have any symptoms should stay home from school and our office notified. In addition, there is always the chance your child's class could be named as a Covid-19 close contact and have to quarantine at home. In these cases, students would not be able to participate in their sport either as they cannot leave their houses. It's unfortunate if this happens, but we still must follow the quarantine order. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
SOME OF THE RULES FOR SPECTATORS OF COMPETITIONS:
- Each athlete may only have spectators from their immediate household.
- Spectators must maintain six feet of distance (unless in the same household) from others.
- All spectators must wear a mask.
- Unfortunately, we are unable to have volunteers help with our teams at this time.
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO IF YOUR CHILD IS COVID POSITIVE, A CLOSE CONTACT OR HAS SYMPTOMS?
If your child is positive, has come in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, or has any symptoms listed on the CDC checklist, please keep him or her home from school and contact our school office. School or district officials will provide you with the information you need as to when your child may return to school. In addition, your child will be allowed adequate time to make up missed work in accordance with EESD school board policy. Please contact your child's teacher if you'd like to request work so there isn't as much to make-up upon return to school.
It is very important that we follow this procedure in order to reduce the possibility of exposure at school when we return in-person. If we have exposure at school, there is a very good chance a cohort (class or grade level) may need to quarantine and return to Distance Learning (DL) for a period of time.
There will be times when cohorts of students are unavoidable, and we understand. However, timely communication may help us minimize such occurrences.
Besides keeping your child home because he/she is a known close contact, please keep children home if they show symptoms in order to minimize exposure and illness to all colds, flu, potential COVID, etc. When our staff is ill, they are required to stay home. We could move to DL because of a shortage of staffing.
Thank you so much for your cooperation and understanding.
2021-2022 TEACHER REQUESTS
While Boulder Creek is moving forward with accepting teacher requests for 2021-2022, please keep in mind that teacher requests are taken into consideration but are not guaranteed. There are many other factors that must be considered when building balanced classes.
Please click HERE (this link will only be active May 10th-14th) if you wish to complete and submit a teacher request form. A teacher request is not necessary for Transitional Kindergarten (TK) or middle school teachers as we have only one TK class and one teacher per subject matter in middle school. We are a large school and as you can imagine, building classes is a huge undertaking. Therefore, any requests made outside of the teacher request window will not be considered. All teacher request forms must be submitted by Friday, May 14th at 4:00 p.m.

GO SLOW IN THE PARKING LOT AND IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Please remember that we have students and parents crossing the parking lots in both the front and the back. Please proceed very slowly and cautiously. Do NOT pass vehicles that are stopped in front of you on Springer Drive or in the parking lots unless there is a another lane in which to do so. This is not legal and it is not safe. Thank you.
Please review the BC Flow of Traffic Map in order to determine which way to enter/exit the campus from the neighborhood depending on which parking lot you are assigned. Front lot = red arrows. Back lot = green arrows.
LUNCH AND BREAKFAST
If your child is a Distance Learner and you need cafeteria meals, you may order meals on a weekly basis and pick up a box of frozen meals for the week on Mondays. If you would like this option, please email our Head Cook, Melody Alspach, at malspach@eesd.net.
* This is the EESD menu and is subject to changes at each school site.

PARENT PORTAL LOG-IN
All parents, including new parents, should have logged into the Parent Portal at some point this school year. Why do you need to create a parent account? This is a secure platform through which you will receive your child’s report card, complete enrollment, and complete the necessary beginning of the year school forms like your child's emergency card. In the future, this is also how state testing results will be communicated.
Click HERE for the link to the parent portal. If you cannot log-in successfully, please email our tech helpline at help@eesd.net. Be sure to keep your log-in information in a safe but accessible place.
