The Franklin Press
Special Event Announcement Edition - October 2015
Check out the Details for the Halloween/Fall Parties, Parades, Costumes, and More
Dear Ben Franklin families,
With Halloween and Fall events taking place on October 30, below are some important details and information regarding that day. Thank you for following these guidelines in order to maintain a safe and fun day for all. We look forward to seeing you all here.
Sincerely,
Mr. Meurer
Costumes
Please follow these guidelines for students’ costumes:
Costumes should not be worn to school. Since it is a Spirit Day, please consider wearing blue and white.
Costumes should be kept simple.
Students should not bring any “extras” like wands, weapons, and other handheld items.
Students should be able to put on and take off their own costumes.
Students should not wear masks that hinder their vision or costumes that hinder movement.
Parades
Below are the times of our two costume parades.
1:45 pm parade for all second and third grade students
2:15 pm parade for all preschool, Kindergarten, and first grade students
The parade will consist of one lap around the designated parade route in front of the school. All are welcome to attend these parades. Please remain on grassy areas or sidewalks when standing by the bus lane and on grass when standing by the sidewalk along Princeton Pike. Please also make sure to leave a path open so students and staff may exit and re-enter the school. Parents/guardians may not enter the school before or following the parade unless they are serving as volunteers or signing students out for the day.
Volunteering and Visiting
Classroom visitors will be limited to five parent/guardian volunteers to help with costumes and parties. Homeroom parents will coordinate who will be volunteering on this day and inform the classroom teacher. Younger children are not permitted to attend classroom parties and activities since the parent/guardian volunteers need to focus on students in the classroom.
If you are volunteering on this day, please be sure that you have viewed the HIB slides available on our district web site at http://www.ltps.org/district.cfm?subpage=1315438. Volunteers who do not view the slides prior to this day will need to do so in the main office prior to volunteering.
Not wanting to participate?
For students whose families choose to not participate in the parades and/or subsequent classroom parties, an alternate activity will be provided. Please contact our school counselor, Mrs. Umbach, at 609-671-5540 x4005 or mumbach@ltps.org by October 28.
Signing a Student Out
All daily practices and protocols for signing a student out at Ben Franklin will be in place on this day. All students being signed out early must be signed out in the main office. After 3:00 pm, students may not be picked up at the main office. Instead, families may use the car line or the parent pickup door during regular dismissal. If your dismissal plan is changing for this day, a note from home that is signed and dated with the change in the dismissal plan is still needed.
