WHAT'S HAPPENING
Math: This week we finished our graphing unit. We also began working on money. We identified coins and counted same coins with values up to $1.00! For a challenge, we also worked on adding mixed coins to $1.00!
Reader's Workshop: This week we continued reading both fiction and nonfiction books across one topic area. We are getting ready for each student to select an interest area and choose books based on that subject to become an expert!
Writer's Workshop: This week we continued our realistic fiction unit. Many students have finished their first stories and are beginning to write their second book. We learned about creating series about one character. Our classroom would like donations of empty cereal boxes (regular size). We will use these cereal boxes to create boxed sets of our series.
Science: This week we continued our work on plants. We began the week with a celery experiment. We also talked about the plant life cycle and the steps/materials needed to grow a plant.
