1st ever Course Fair! February 8th, and upcoming forecasting news
February 8th from 10:00 to 10:35, at the end of TSCT we are going to have our 1st ever 'Course Fair.' This event is a chance for you to talk to teachers about the courses you're thinking about taking next year-- both core classes and electives. Details were shared with students during Pacetime on February 1st. Important Reminders:
- You'll go directly to the gym that day at 10:00. No checking into Pacetime.
- If you can, bring a pen. We will hand out a worksheet to help you consider time management for next year's course load. There will also be a form to complete and enter into a drawing in order to be eligible to win prizes.
- Come with questions. It's a great opportunity to ask teachers about their classes, and clear things up for you. Better to do it now than next September!!!
NOTE: if you're a 12th grader you'll be going to the auditorium at this time to discuss graduation requirements and details with Ms. Fisher.
Forecasting is just around the corner. On February 15th the forecasting window opens. Teachers will be talking to you that day about how to set-up your forecast in StudentVue, and things to consider as you're doing this. You'll have from then until the following dates to get it completed (this is when counselors will start meeting with you in your social studies classes to 'nail it down'):
- Class of 2024: February 21st
- Class of 2025: February 27th
- Class of 2026: March 6th
We'll also have a new Curriculum Guide coming your way soon that details all of our offerings. That should be coming your way in the next week or so.

Black History Month
As we celebrate Black History Month, we take this opportunity to acknowledge and honor the contributions and achievements of African Americans in our country’s history. This is a time to reflect on the challenges and triumphs of the past and present, and to celebrate the diversity and resilience of our community.
Throughout the month of February, we encourage you to learn about the important figures, events and movements that have shaped African American history. Take this time to broaden your understanding of the experiences and perspectives of others and recognize the impact that African Americans have had in our society.
We also encourage you to participate in events and activities that highlight the contributions of African Americans, both locally and nationally. From visiting museums to attending cultural events, there are many ways to engage and show your support for the African American community.
Let us come together as a community to celebrate Black History Month and to continue to work towards a future of equity and justice for all.
Youth Truth Student Survey
We are asking your child to participate in the YouthTruth Student Survey in the coming weeks. The YouthTruth Student Survey is a nationally recognized survey used in hundreds of schools and districts across the country, surveying hundreds of thousands of students. The survey asks students about their experiences in the school and with their teachers, including how engaged they are at school, the rigor of their coursework, and their preparedness for the future. Our school, other schools, and researchers may use such information for developing plans to help schools and teachers improve. For information about this survey, please visit http://youthtruthsurvey.org, or speak to a school administrator.
Although we want to hear from all students, participation in this survey is voluntary.
Your child’s ratings will not be identified in any reports because results are shared at the group level. Personally identifiable information will not be released to any third party.
Please be aware that under federal law, you have the right to review a copy of the questions asked of your child. If you would like to do so, you can view a copy of the survey at school.
Please use this form to opt-out (complete only if opting-out).
