Updates for the Upcoming Week

ACCESS Testing this Week.

Below I've copied a portion of the email that was sent from Mr. Bloom yesterday regarding ACCESS testing this week. If you have any questions regarding the assessment, please contact Mr. Bloom.

This is a friendly reminder that we will begin Access testing for ELL scholars on Monday. If you have ELL scholars in your classroom 1st block that are not in ESL classes, they will be pulled. Scholars with IEP's will be pulled beginning Monday and students who do not Tuesday. We will be testing in room 205, Ms. DeBernardo's room, and Ms. Guzman's room. Testing will occur throughout the day. There are four testing modules that each scholar must complete so they will be testing for several days. We must complete testing all ELL scholars prior to 2/28. I will send out the pullout schedule early Monday morning (I don't have it on my home computer-sorry) so everyone will be aware of who is being pulled out and when. We are testing in the ELL classes to the extent possible to minimize disruption of instruction for everyone. Thank you for your support .

Spring Club Session Coming Friday, February 12th.

Our spring club session will begin this Friday. The purpose of character and exposure club time is to reinforce school-wide character expectations, provide opportunities for academic support and to allow our scholars to build trusting relationships with caring adults in our building. Friday we will be on our modified club schedule and each grade level is expected to add a structured tutorial / academic remediation component to their grade level club options.

February is Black History Month

During the month of February we will celebrate Black History Month. In addition to highlighting contributions of African-Americans to our country during our announcements, I encourage us to use our curriculum as a platform to inform our scholars of the advancements that African-Americans have made in the various fields of study that align to what we are currently teaching our scholars. If you would like assistance with resources or if you have questions or concerns regarding this topic please don't hesitate to contact me.
