Hello, Jacket Families!

Welcome to the new year! I hope everyone has had a restful few weeks, or if not restful (like mine) it has been full of family time and memory making (also like mine). As we all know, it's coming to a close, and the new semester is upon us! We're looking forward to welcoming our entire KUE Krew back to campus on THURSDAY, January 5!

So, with that in mind, a new year and a new semester brings the opportunity for new plans and positive change. We are going to be making some adjustments to our daily schedule for this semester. Keep in mind, THIS WILL NOT AFFECT DROP OFF AND PICK UP TIMES! Those remain the same.

We have created a separate enrichment/remediation time that does not interfere with important elective choices like band/vocal/stem. This allows our students to get what they need academically without sacrificing time from what they love.

5th and 6th grade families: PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS VERY QUICK SURVEY TO HELP US KNOW WHERE YOUR STUDENTS WOULD LIKE TO SPEND THEIR ELECTIVE TIME. IF YOU DO NOT RESPOND, YOUR STUDENT WILL REMAIN ENROLLED IN THEIR CURRENT ELECTIVE, OR WE WILL CHOOSE FOR THEM. RESPONSE DOES NOT GUARANTEE PLACEMENT AS WE HAVE TO MAINTAIN APPROPRIATE CLASS SIZES. The survey can be found HERE, and it is also linked below. You will need to respond separately for each student in your household who is enrolled in 5th or 6th grade.

Please read on for more information about the upcoming semester!

It's a great YEAR to be a Jacket!

Order forms were sent home before Christmas, but you can also order online by clicking HERE or by clicking the button below.

Public Library Field Trip(s)

In January, our KUE students will begin visiting the Kingfisher Memorial Library once a month with Mrs. Lunsford. Mrs. Lunsford will introduce our students to the public library, acquaint them with the public librarians, and introduce them to programs offered through the library. Students will also be allowed to check out library books, but in order to do this, we need YOUR help. Students need to have a Kingfisher Memorial Library card to check out books. Library cards are free. To obtain a library card, take your child by the library (a parent/guardian and child must be present), show your driver’s license and something showing your physical address (bill, bank statement, etc). That’s it….your child will then be issued their very own library card. More information will be sent prior to our first library visit but we wanted to get the word out and give you time to get your child a library card. Thank you!

Kingfisher Memorial Library 505 W Will Rogers Drive (405) 375-3384 Hours: Mon-Thurs 9:00 am

This Week's Weather!

It's going to be COLD in the mornings and still pretty chilly at recess time, so PLEASE dress your kiddos appropriately! We will go outside as long as the wind chill is above 32º and dry!

KUE: FOOD FOR KIDS BACKPACK PROGRAM

We have an ever-growing dynamic of food insecurity here in our community and our school. On average, we give access to the Jacket Food Pantry at least 4-5 times per month. In order to meet the needs of our students and families here at The KUE, we have registered with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma to extend the Backpack Food Program through 6th Grade.

I will be sending home more information and an enrollment form when we return from Christmas Break.

IF YOU, OR ANYONE YOU KNOW NEEDS FOOD ASSISTANCE

Yellowjacket Pantry is available during school hours. Call 405-375-6607. If it's after hours, or over Christmas Break, you can email lkostka@kingfisher.k12.ok.us
