Teacher Day:

  • The teacher workday for Turrill teachers is from 8:40 – 3:45.
  • On Collaboration or SIP/Staff Meetings the teacher workday is 7:50 - 3:45.
  • 1-Hour Professional Development Days are from 7:40-8:40.

FIELD DAY

Tuesday, June 5th, 9:15am-3:30pm

  • 3-5 will have their field day in the morning roughly 9:15-11:15
  • E5-2 will have their field day in the afternoon roughly 1:20-3:20

From 119 office referrals in May last year to 37 this year -- let's celebrate! We'll crank up some jams in the gym for a body shaking brain break!

Transition Day

Friday, June 15th, 9:30-10am

At 9:25: 5th graders and any students who will not be returning to Turrill will be released to the playground/gym to be supervised by the 5th grade paras.


At 9:30:

  • E5 students will be sent to the Kindergarten classrooms first.
  • Then the "crew" (Resource Room staff and anyone else who is available) will start in 4th grade and escort the students to their new classrooms.
  • We will continue to move down the grade levels until all of the students are where they need to be.


At 10:00: Annette will make the announcement to have students return to their class..

2:30-3:15: 5th Grade Assembly (gym will be open for seating at 2:15 with video or ppt playing as parents and students arrive)


2:30: Welcome speech by Principal

2:40-2:50 Berry's class*
2:50-3:00 Hoganson's class*
3:00-3:10 Short's class*

*Teacher reads students index card with name including:

1. student writes accomplishments they are proud of

2. student's favorite memory/student receives "certificate of completion" from principal and other teachers/students stand against opposite wall and sit down as next class stands


3:15 – 3:25: E5-4th grade "Clap Up"

E5-4th Grade will be dismissed by announcement to parade through the gym. Parents are welcome to join the parade with their child. Principal reads Class index card with:

1. class favorite memory
2. class goal accomplished


3:25: 5th Grade Group picture with Sign (gives other classes time to get back to classrooms to prepare for Clap Out)


3:30: 5th Grade "Clap Out" (Pomp and Circumstance playing across School PA)

We think that each one of us is strong individually but we are even stronger when we work together.


From 119 to 37. Last year we recorded 119 office referrals during the month of May. This year we recorded 37!

TEACHER CORNER

End of Year Certificates

Certificates provided by the OFFICE will be distributed to teachers by June 8th. Teachers can plan a Classroom "ceremony" during the last week of school to distribute the certificates to students including:


  • Perfect Attendance - 0 absences AND no more than 3 tardies for the year. The office will print AND complete these certificates.
  • Good Attendance - No more than 3 absences for the year AND no more than 5 tardies for the year. The office will print AND complete these certificates.
  • Academic Growth Award - This award is given only to those students who met or exceeded their growth goal in BOTH reading and math for this year. Growth goals are determined by the national average growth for all students. The office will print BUT teachers will need to complete (print student names) on the certificates.
  • Skills for Successful Learners - Students that demonstrate a 1 or 2 on the report card section labeled “Skills for Successful Learners” all year. The office will print BUT teachers will need to complete (print student names) on the certificates.

Emergency Drills (Updated on 8-7-17):

Three Lockdowns (one during lunch/recess)

CARE Team

Purpose: called in Emergency Situations when Staff and/or Student Safety is at risk.


Emergency Situations:

1. Is there an ongoing emergency?

2. Does the student's behavior pose an imminent risk to student's or others' safety?

3. Does the situation require an immediate intervention?


Protocol for Summoning the Team:

  • Classroom teacher will contact the office by any means necessary
  • Secretary (or available office staff) will use Walkie Talkie to call for "CARE Team to Room (include teacher's name)


Team members:

  • All Staff trained in CPI
  • Custodial Staff
  • Office Staff

Medical Emergency Response Team (MERT)

Purpose: called in emergency Medical situations.


Protocol for Summoning the Team:

  • Classroom teacher will contact the office by any means necessary
  • Secretary (or available office staff) will use Walkie Talkie to call for "MERT Team to Room (include teacher's name)
