The Great Pumpkin Book Character Contest And Book Fair!
Dear Parents,
A pumpkin decorating contest is being sponsored by the Norton Creek PTO and Library Staff! Take a pumpkin and turn it into your favorite book character for a school-wide pumpkin parade to display to get us ready for the Norton Creek Book Fair. The book fair begins on Monday, October 18th (more info to come).
Please fill out the attached character card and book information, cut out along the black lines to make each card. Participation is voluntary.
The project is to be done entirely at home. Students choosing to participate, must provide their own pumpkin and decorating materials.
Parents are welcome to stop by Norton Creek during school hours to view pumpkins in front of the school.
Dates to Remember:
Pumpkin Drop off in front of Norton Creek– Wednesday, October 13th (Starting at 7:30 a.m.)
Rain Date: Thursday, October 14th
Pumpkins on Parade – All day Wednesday, October 13th
Top Winners Announced – October 15th in the morning
Pumpkin Pick up – Pick up your pumpkin to take home at the end of the day on Wednesday, October 13th. Find your child’s pumpkin on parade in front of the school.
Contest Rules
ABSOLUTELY NO CARVED PUMPKINS: Carved pumpkins rot, attract bugs and smell. You are welcome to use craft pumpkins.
Pumpkins may be decorated with markers or acrylic paint. Yarn, construction paper, feathers, pipe cleaners, etc. may also be used to decorate the pumpkin. Items can be attached using craft glue or tape.
Pumpkins should represent a favorite book character and should be accompanied with character cards and title cards. Pumpkins and books should be labeled with the student’s name and class. Please fill out the attached character card, cut along the black lines, and attach to your child’s pumpkin before pumpkin drop off. Although this is a family project, a majority of the work should be done by the student.
All contestants will receive a bookmark. Top 3 winners of the contest will win a book fair gift certificate.

Our school office is open from 7:30am until 4:00pm on school days.
Arriving Late To School
Attendance For Students
Please call the school attendance line if your student will be absent/tardy/leaving early from school at 331-228-2700. Please spell your students first and last name or their student ID number when you leave a message. If you are emailing the teacher please also email
nor-office@d303.org indicate students first and last name.
When picking up your child early from school please come to the main office with your picture ID. Students will only be released to individuals that are listed under the contact information on the students account.
Early Release Wednesdays
The following dates below are early release Wednesdays. Please plan accordingly for your children.

If your student forgets their lunch please email the classroom teacher and drop off at the main office. Please label with the students full name.
Lunch Ordering Information
If your child orders a lunch it comes with a milk choice only. If your child orders breakfast in the morning it will be sent home that day for them to eat at home the next morning. Breakfast does not occur at school. Please call the office at 331-228-2700 with any questions.

Fall Fest 10/29/21:
Fall Fest planning is in the works and we need your help running outdoor games, running stations for cider and donuts, and of course managing the bathroom facilities for this seasonal event. Do you have game supplies or ideas? Contact our chairs if you have a simple and safe game that can be played outside, a contact with local food trucks, or any ideas for this fun festival!

A gigantic thank you to those pictured above for running and planning Loop the Lake which earned: $3254 with sponsorships (Costco, Trader Joe's STC Baseball, Goldfish Swim School, Athletico, Hormel, Dick Pond, SCGA (St. Charles Gymnastics/DJ/Emcee Kenny Gesiakowski), Classic Cinemas, STIX Golf Supply, generous food donations (thank you Butera) and fun for all of our 377 running/walking eagles and parents. Alyson Zimmerman, Donna Minaglia, Megan Kuczora, and Jessica Klepacki your hard work made a true difference in our community's connection and caring! Thank you to Mr. White, Mrs. Rich, Mrs. Casey and all other staff members who participated or stopped by, we are so grateful for the funding of new recess equipment and health and wellness opportunities at Norton Creek.
Parents, please share with your children that all classes have earned a bonus recess as we SURPASSED our goal of 500 dry goods and canned items supporting Northern Illinois Food Bank!
