We welcome back our happy Puke Haupapa campers today. They have had a fabulous time in Rotorua, collaborating and challenging themselves and each other. Many, many thanks to the staff and parents for their time and commitment which has enabled the camp to happen. Thank you to Inglewood Lions and anonymous members of our School Community who provided much needed funding to ensure all children could attend the camp.
While there were many camp highlights, one has to be the fact that five of our kids had their 13th birthday on the same day. A huge Happy Birthday to Luke Phillips, Luke and Curtis Doherty and Hayley and Amber Storer.
I am sure there will be snippets to come in future newsletters of the fun times had.

Kia ora, My name is Tash Allerby. I have been a part of the IPS community since my daughter Isabella, who is in year 7 started School and now we have our youngest daughter Sofia in year 1, we are looking forward to more years in this school.
My husband Lance is the Deputy Chief Fire Officer of the Inglewood Volunteer Fire Brigade and has served there for 24 years. We love Inglewood, our community and our school.
I have been honoured to be a parent elected board representative for the past term. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time serving our teachers, children and community as part of this board.
My area of expertise on the current board has been health and safety. Through my previous work in management and administration I have experience and knowledge of health and safety, policy creation, and team management.
As part of being on the board I have made attending the training available to boards a high priority. This has been beneficial in helping me learn about how schools are run, the governance side of a board and the best way to help guide our school forward.
I look forward to serving our school and community in this next term, seeing the completion of some of the projects we have started and then move forward from strength to strength.
Nga Mihi, Tash Allerby

I have served on this Board for the past three years as a parent representative and prior to that as the staff representative.
I taught at Inglewood Primary School for seven years and have continued to be involved - where time has permitted. I have helped as a parent with school trips, afterschool sports, and even reading a bedtime story to the middle team on camp in the hall.
Inglewood Primary is where my wife, Tina Ladbrook, her siblings and her father - John Ladbrook, and his many siblings attended. It is a school that we as a family have a long history. All three of our sons; Noah year 6, Reid year 4 and Kahu year 2, are enrolled at Inglewood Primary and are loving their teachers!
I have great respect for our principal and the staff she leads. Their passion for our community and the education of our children is rare and a taonga for our tamariki. I want to continue the fabulous work our previous Board members have delivered in supporting the staff, students and principal in being an inclusive and innovative school who continually strive for the best possible outcomes - educationally and socially for our community.
As you consider your vote for Inglewood Primary’s Board of Trustees, I hope you consider my name as a person who has shown they want to contribute positively to our school and its community. I feel I have an intimate knowledge of the way the school works and an insight into the way our teachers inspire our young people. I look forward to continuing to serve our school community in this way.

My wife, Kelly and I live in Inglewood with our three daughters, two of whom attend Inglewood Primary School. Kelly has been teaching at Inglewood Primary for nearly 13 years now and I have been part of the extended family of the school for 11 years.
After being born in Australia, I lived in Papua New Guinea for 10 years before moving back to Australia until my early twenties. I did my carpentry training there and moved to New Zealand about 15 years ago. I am a builder by trade. In 2016 I was site manager for Southcoast Construction and in charge of the upgrade of A Block at Inglewood Primary. I worked closely with the Ministry of Education, Karen Patterson and the Board of Trustees for nearly two years. That time spent at school allowed me to build close relationships and observe the systems and structures of the school.
I enjoy contributing to Inglewood Primary in meaningful ways that benefit our daughters, as well as the wider Inglewood community.
I am a hands on, get it done person who doesn’t mind getting stuck in behind the scenes. I have extensive health and safety knowledge as well as skills in construction and property maintenance. I am familiar with the physical structure of the school, with background knowledge of what has been done and what still needs doing. I understand the long term vision for the school and I would like to do my part in bringing it to fruition.
We are very grateful to Inglewood Primary School Staff and the Board of Trustees for the opportunities given to our daughters and the safe, values based environment that they spend their days in. I would really value the opportunity to contribute to the governing of the school, in all that the role brings, and would commit fully to helping in any way I can. Thank you for your consideration. I am married to Lisa and have 3 children, Ayla (Year 7), Taytum (Year 5) and Bryson (Year 3). My family has been living in Inglewood for their entire lives and my parents have been involved within numerous organisations within the community and I have seen the positive impact of having an active role within the community.
I want to be a part of the BOT so that I can help contribute to creating a positive and nurturing school environment for both children and staff and for it to continue to be an environment where everyone feels safe and excited to be a part of. I have a real passion for being able to help children reach their potential and be involved with everything possible and ensuring enjoyment while doing this.
I have been involved with the local rugby club for most of my life and have been coaching junior rugby for the past 7 years. For the last 2 ½ years I have taken on the role as Junior Convenor, in this time we have seen an increase of kids participating by 30-40 and have also helped implement the start of Friday night girl’s rugby.
I have worked in Store Management for RD1 and BOC for numerous years which has helped me to build and enhance my skills in Personnel Management, project work, financial budgeting, forward planning and Health & Safety compliance among many skills. I am currently a Key Customer Executive for BOC where I am involved with many large businesses around NZ where I regularly interact and have formed relationships with a variety of different positions within organisations. My motivation for putting my name forward as a BOT member originates from my desire for schools to have the means to deliver inclusive education to all learners.
After graduating university, with a degree in history and sociology, and a diploma in HR, I worked in the field of government social services and mental health before having my children. Since having children I have founded and operate two small successful businesses in a part time capacity. I have a fair and inclusive outlook on life and am motivated by social justice. My special interest in education lies in neuro-diverse minds– ie ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia and Dyscalculia. I grew up with a sister who was intellectually gifted whilst also struggling with dyslexia. I am also parenting wonderful children who have learning ‘disabilities’ and have spent many hours reading and researching these different ways of thinking. I am well aware of the current constraints that schools face when providing for the needs of these children, and all children. I would like to see a system that supports schools and their teachers to provide for all of their learners in the right way.
I would like the opportunity to support my community by being able to contribute to the governance of our local school. I aspire to be part of a change that recognises all children as individual learners with huge strengths. As the present government prepares to introduce better learning support to schools across New Zealand, I feel I have the skills and knowledge to help apply these welcome changes locally. I love working with people from all walks of life and have an extensive appreciation and knowledge of local heritage and culture. Sarah Lucas
Ray Smillie
I am married with three adult children and two grandchildren. My children all attended Inglewood Primary as our school of choice. I have served on the Board for a number of years. I am a dairy farmer but also have had my own Blocklaying business which gives me a strong knowledge of the construction industry.
Over the years, my contributions to Inglewood Primary have included the installation and upgrade of Puke Haupapa (B Block) new toilets and Modern Learning areas, Panitahi (A Block) remediation including weather tightness, earthquake strengthening, staffroom and hall upgrades. I contribute to key staff appointments and I am currently overseeing the old C and G Block rationalisation and rebuild, new toilets in A Block adjacent to Moa iti, Swimming Pool Roofing, B Block Cover way Roofing and Driveway remediation. I am standing again for re-election for the Board of Trustees because I would like to support a continuity of governance in regard to the current and future construction programmes. I feel my background in construction gives me valuable knowledge to manage the many procedures and requirements in order to liaise effectively with the architects, builders and the Ministry of Education. This is a main focus of my current role on the Board of Trustees. As a Board member, I feel I bring a critical and analytical perspective in order to support robust decision making and provide better outcomes for all students and stakeholders. With your endorsement, I am looking forward to seeing through the changes at Inglewood Primary - resulting in new learning spaces and projects listed above together with working alongside our students and wider community to complete our 500m Flat Bike and scooter Track a Learner Mountain Bike rack, Pump Track and advanced Mountain Bike Track, and the return of our playing and sporting areas. Our future is positive!
Kind regards, Ray Smillie
