Rogers Park - Home of the Running Wolves
Hello Wolf Pack Families,
I hope that you and your family enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Winter is certainly escorting us into December. Thank you in advance for reminding your student to wear warm gear for walking to school, the bus stop, outdoor time at lunch and for PE activities. We go outside year-round as the fresh air does our minds, bodies, and spirits good!
This edition of Paw Print Press 2.0 is packed with a lot of different topics. Please take note of important events and dates coming up. If you have any questions, please let us know. We look forward to our entire Running Wolves pack finishing Quarter 2 strong!
Welcome to Our New Office Staff
We are proud to announce that we now have a full staff in the front office! Please welcome Kayla Coppess, our new Administrative Assistant, and Suzanne Boots, our new Secretary. Please stop in and say hello when you come by the school.
Please assist our new office staff when reporting your student absent for the day. You can enter the absence in Q Parent Connect, or you may call it in and leave a message. If you are leaving a message, please give the student's first and last name when reporting the absence. We appreciate your help during this transition.
We Are Proud of Our Mediators
In October, forty-six students were trained to be mediators out on our playground. These students learned the skills of active listening, paraphrasing, reflecting feelings, and talking out problems to reach a win-win solution. The mediators are now out during recess looking for students who have small problems so they can help them talk it out. Congratulations to these hard-working students.

Ice Rink Update
The Rogers Park rink is getting flooded, and we're handing out ice skates in preparation for another great winter of recess ice skating.
If you (or another adult in your family) are interested in helping tie skates or monitor the rink on Thursdays or Fridays for an hour or two, please use this link to sign up to volunteer. We hope to be able to start skating on December 8, though the rink preparation timeframe is largely out of our hands.
If you'd like to give your child permission to participate, or would like to borrow skates for the winter, please fill out this form.
Winter MAP Growth Assessment Testing--11/28 - 12/8
Our HG K-6 and NBHD 3-6 Running Wolves will participate in the second administration of the MAP Growth Assessment beginning Tuesday, November 28th. Our focus is on growth. Growth as individuals, by class, and by grade-level. This growth is measured starting with the Fall assessment and each student has their own growth goal.
We will celebrate growth in a variety of ways through the above categories. It is an awesome opportunity to recognize the hard work of students and staff. This data is extremely important with our teachers reviewing it as part of instructional adjustments and class placement.
Celebrations will occur the last week of the Quarter so stay tuned for details!
FastBridge Assessment Testing Window--11/30 - 12/14
A Note from Nurse T
Just a friendly reminder with all of those coughs and colds going around, that any medication (even over-the-counter) requires paperwork to be filed in my office. I have forms available for you to sign for cough medicine, cough drops, Tylenol, and Advil. In a pinch, I can call you for permission, but if it’s something that will be regularly used or over the course of several days, the form is the way to go.
Please keep your kids home if they have a fever or have vomited in the past 24 hours. Temperatures tend to go up as the day goes on, so if there’s a questionable fever in the morning, please keep them home from school. Colds and coughs are going around and it is generally OK to send them to school with those, but please make sure they feel well enough to be here for the day. As always, please free to call me with any questions about whether or not to send your student to school.
Thank you and stay warm out there!

Rogers Park Artists Artwork on Display
There is a unique art exhibit at the ASD Education Center. Three students from Rogers Park have artwork in the show. Please congratulate Gauge Rogers in Ms. Bowes 6th grade class, James Thorne in Ms. Haines 5th grade class, and Sofia Skilja in Ms. Flanigan's second grade class. Their work will be seen by hundreds of people this December.
Artsonia--Just in Time for the Holidays!
Mr. McDonald is doing Artsonia again this year. Artsonia is an organization that allows for students to showcase their artwork in an online portfolio. Parents can then view their child's work on Artsonia. Artsonia also serves as a school fundraiser. Artwork can be printed onto many different items and a portion of the proceeds go directly to the school.
