2nd Grade Happenings
March 1, 2018
I can't believe that next Friday is already the end of the 2nd Trimester. This year has gone by SO fast! We have already learned a lot this year and still have so much to learn. The next couple of months are going to be very busy.
Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences
If you have not returned your conference form, please do so by tomorrow (3/2).
I look forward to meeting with everyone and looking at how your child has progressed and set some goals to finish off 2nd Grade.

Lent Reconciliation
Please let me know if your child has not received or will not be receiving their First Reconciliation this year.
As part of our Catholic identity the students from grades 2-8 will have Reconciliation for Lent next Wednesday or Thursday. Because of time and the number of priest available it is looking like 2nd graders will go on Thursday (2/8).

Cursive
Now that the students have learned all the lowercase cursive, I am expecting that anything they write, unless I tell them otherwise, is done in cursive - including their name! They are not allowed to write any proper nouns or first words in a sentence unless they have officially learned the letter from me. Please help support this at home. The more they practice the better they will get.
For spelling test, they need to write the words in both manuscript and cursive. (I have told them this and I remind them of this every week too). This way, I can check their progress and if they form a letter incorrectly in cursive but write it correctly in manuscript I can still give them the point for it.

IXL Reminder
Don't forget that IXL is part of your child's weekly homework. It is listed on the bottom of their homework sheet.
The students are required to complete at least 20 minutes in Math and 20 minutes in Language Arts each week.
Those who do not complete their IXL homework for the week will need to stay inside during recess to complete it.
