News & Notes
On October 4th, Craig Jandoli presented Start a Fire, an anti-bullying assembly focused on respect and tolerance. During this interactive assembly, Mr. Jandoli teaches the students to not only be a leader, but to be true to themselves in order to succeed. In addition, Mr. Jandoli teaches students that they should not use their past as an excuse to not succeed in their future. He discussed goals and aspirations and the importance of being kind to themselves and others.
Mr. Jandoli is currently a Vice Principal at Hawthorne High School and has been a keynote speaker and workshop leader at the NJ Elks Peer Leadership Conference.

Diversity Day
This year's Diversity Day celebration will take place on Thursday, October 26th after school in the cafeteria. This event has grown each year and is a great opportunity for the students to get involved. Students and staff are invited to set up tables to highlight their heritage or culture through food and display. In its first few years, we've had tables dedicated to France, Austria, Italy, Mexico, China, Germany, Columbia, Greece, United States of America, Israel and Guatemala. Students are still able to sign up for a table by seeing Ms. Ulmer in the SAC office located in the Main Office suite by Friday, October 20th.
All students are invited and encouraged to attend and/or host a table by themselves or with friends. There is a $1 entry fee and all proceeds will go to the Joseph Sabato Memorial Scholarship Fund. We hope to see your student there!

Academic Highlights
Ms. Nemiroff's class observed Mr. Gallagher's Material Science class building and testing model cars using a mouse trap as a motor. It was a great experience for both classes.
PSATs were administrated on October 11th to 9th, 10th and 11th grade students. In addition to the educational value, these test also helps us to expose our students to college style testing.
Community Support
From our Athletic Director, Mike O'Donnell:
Middlesex Athletics has partnered with the Marissa Tufaro Foundation to help provide coat, gloves, hats and scarves to the Hands of Help Food Pantry during next Friday’s (October 20th) Football game vs. Highland Park. Below is a link to the story and quotes from the director of Hand for Hope about what they do. Please share with friends and family and if you cannot make the game feel free to drop off whatever you would like in the Athletics Office (Rm. 220) of the high school at any time prior to next week.

Did You Know?
Royal blue and white were chosen as the school colors for the brand new Middlesex High School in 1959. The colors were first announced at a combined meeting of the Junior High and Senior High School boards at Central School which is now Von E. Mauger School. The school colors were chosen by the pupils at Central School and the Freshman class members of the Bound Brook High School who were residents of Middlesex and who would now be going to their own high school in their town.
