New Semester, Updated Policies
Part of the process of learning and improving is reflection. Our team spent the morning of the planning day reviewing our semester 1, and determining some areas in which we would like to make adjustments. The first two areas in which we reached consensus are regarding late work and retakes. We are continuing to work through some discussions relating to grading and communication tools, and expect to share those decisions soon. In the meantime, please review the following information to help ensure that we're all in the loop for semester 2.
Semester 2 Late Work Procedures
POLICY: Beginning this grading period, teachers will communicate due dates/deadlines for classwork, homework, and other graded activities. Work submitted past the due date will be accepted for full credit until the day of the assessment for the unit of learning. Work submitted after the assessment date will receive feedback, and may be used for remediation, but will not receive credit for the assignment grade.
👉NOTE: Assignments due during the last week of the grading period may not have the option to offer a "grace" period for late work because of report card grade entry deadlines.
RATIONALE: The intent is to reinforce the positive connection between the role the assigned work plays in preparing students for the assessment of their learning. Teachers will communicate the anticipated date of the unit test or assessment to ensure that students submit the required work. Please note that, if students submit assignments at the last minute before the assessment date, they will not have the benefit of receiving feedback from the teacher prior to the assessment. Therefore, it's important for students to practice time management skills to get the full benefit of their practice and learning opportunities.
Second Chance Learning Procedures
POLICY: Beginning this grading period, teachers will offer opportunities for students to demonstrate improved mastery of key learning objectives through retakes, corrections, or revisions to assessments. To qualify for a second chance learning opportunity, students must complete the remediation plan developed by the teacher, which may include assignments, tutoring, or other effort. Students who do not complete the required remediation plan will not be eligible for grade enhancement.
Student Drivers On Campus
We're excited to welcome some new drivers to our campus - STUDENTS!
To allow for safer traffic flow, we will be designating spots at the north end of the school for student parking. The student lot will move as the number of student drivers increases in subsequent terms.
Do YOU have a new driver in your family? Information about how to obtain a student parking pass is available on our school website,

Yearbook Sales Are Winding Down
The introductory price of $60 for the first ever yearbook will end on 1/10. Prices will increase for the final sales to complete our order. We do not anticipate having extra yearbooks available when the order is received. Please make sure to preorder a yearbook for your student as a keepsake of our inaugural year!
We're also accepting business ads, which help our yearbook team ensure that the team meets the budget for publishing the yearbook. If you own a business, please consider buying an ad.
School Choice Window Closes 1/19/24
The application window for School Choice opens January 8th @ 8 AM and ends January 19 @ 4 PM. Current 8th-grade students must submit an application during this window if they wish to continue into the high school program for 2024-2025 and beyond. 8th-grade students whose families do not submit an application to stay will be reassigned to their zoned neighborhood high school at the conclusion of the school year.
All other current AAI students will remain enrolled at Angeline Academy of Innovation unless they enroll at another school, accept a school choice assignment for another program, or have their school choice eligibility revoked for attendance, academic, or behavioral reasons. We sincerely hope that our current Archers remain a part of the Angeline family.
School Choice Window Opening
Pasco County Schools is proud to offer many options for students and families. Our options include specialized programming within schools, magnet options and career and technical education programs.
Attention - Grade 8 Parents
Our current 8th-grade students must apply to enter the high school program. The application will require families to select a program pathway to direct their studies.
New Year, New Award...
Our student journalists continue to blaze new trails with the launch of our newspaper. Over the break, The Bowman's Beacon garnered its first award! Congratulations to Nathan Marchese and Ms. Swain for this recognition!

Science Saturday w/ the Florida Dairy Farmers
We were proud to host science teachers from high schools throughout the district. Teachers spent the morning working on a gel electropheresis lab together, then visited a working dairy farm in the afternoon to see how the concepts from the lab are used in the field (<--get it? 🤣) Participants were also able to bring equipment and materials back to their schools for use with students!

5 Times to Give Yourself Grace as a Parent
Last summer, I tweeted, “Encouraging all parents out there. Parenting is hard, & if you wanna be a good one, it’s really hard. I had a day recently when I just sucked as a dad. Did everything wrong, said everything I shouldn’t. It’s hard, but encouraging us all—stay in it. Give yourself grace. Love them hard.” I was preaching to myself as much as to anyone else. Do you give yourself grace as a dad? The pressure to be perfect is real, but the “I can never fail” mentality all but guarantees failure. We are not Superman. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Give it your all as a parent, but understand that coming up short of what you want to be today doesn’t mean you aren’t cut out for the job. Here are 5 times to give yourself grace as a parent.
Huddle up with your kids and ask, “What does it mean to give someone grace?”
