Amazing Girls on the Run
Oster is so proud to have a Girls on the Run Club. Twenty-four of our girls in grades 3rd-5th are able to practice recognizing their inner strength and celebrating what makes them one of a kind. Trained coaches, Miss Yoshioka, Miss Ferguson, and Miss Meg Yoshioka, along with parent volunteers, Dina Rabago, and Erin O'Toole, lead small teams through daily lessons, which include dynamic discussions, activities, and running games. Over the course of the ten-week program, our girls develop essential skills to help them navigate their worlds and establish a lifetime appreciation for health and fitness. The program culminates with girls positively impacting their communities through a service project and being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K event on Saturday, May 18th at Vasona Park.

CAASPP California Assessment of Student Performance Progress
Our 3rd-5th grade students will begin practicing for our state assessment after spring break. Grade levels will begin the official testing at the end of April and early May. CAASPP is also referred to as the Smarter Balanced Assessment. The assessment will include adaptive tests in English Language Arts, Math, and Science (5th grade only). Students will be taking all assessments on their Chromebooks. Results will be available sometime in June, and the individual scores will be mailed home to our families. A more detailed letter sharing tips for preparing students, along with the actual testing schedule, will be sent to families with children in grades 3rd-5th.
5th Grade Parents
Can you believe your child's elementary years are over? It's truly hard to fathom! We would like to celebrate your 5th grader with a small ceremony, as they move on to middle school. The celebration will take place on Wednesday, June 5th, at 10:30 a.m. on our upper-grade blacktop. We have 130 fifth graders being promoted, so this year the ceremony will be outside. Students will return to their classrooms following the ceremony and be excused at 12:15 p.m by their classroom teacher. We ask that younger siblings please remain seated with their parents throughout the entire graduation, or remain at home with a sitter. This is a very special hour for our 5th-grade students and their teachers. Thank you!
