Welcome Back Students and Families!

Newsletter #1, 2019-2020 School Year

Welcome to the 2019-2020 School Year

Welcome back Truedell families! We hope everyone had an amazing summer! Students have been busy adjusting to new classroom routines and to being back at school.

I am pleased to share with you that our school organization was approved at eleven classrooms. We welcome Ms. Meghan Squarebriggs as our new Grade 8 teacher and Ms. Amy Gadula as a new member of our support staff team.

Upcoming events this month include our School Council Meeting this evening (Monday September 23rd) at 6:30 p.m. in the Resource Centre. We will be participating in our annual Terry Fox Run this Thursday at 11:30 a.m. Please send in a toonie with your child to support Cancer research. Parents are welcome to join us at Ashton Park! The Open House is on Thursday September 26th from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. Please visit your children's classrooms during this time. After visiting classes, we hope you will attend the BBQ hosted by Parent Council from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Teachers will not be available after 6:00 p.m. so please make sure to visit classrooms first! This Friday September 27 is a PA day. There is no school on this date.

Read, Read, Read!

Most teachers are encouraging their students to read for 20 minutes each day. This can help to make reading become a habit, and will build future success in school. The graphic below shows why reading is such an important activity.
