Happy New Year!
Please see the information below about our Virtual Family Reading "Night". You are welcome to access the information at any time. Please be sure to complete the feedback form to be entered to win a gift card.
Quarter 2 is rapidly coming to a close. Please support your child with completing and turning in their Wednesday Asynchronous work. This is used to capture attendance for the day so it is critical that students complete the work within three days.
Within the next two weeks, students in grades 3 through 5 will be taking the iReady mid-year assessment in reading and math. This information is critical since we have been virtual for much of the year with these grades. Encourage your child to do his/her very best on the assessment as the data from the iReady assessment will help us tailor instruction for the third and fourth quarters. Directions will be posted in your child's Google Classroom. Thank you for your support with having your child do his/her best on the assessment.
PreK, Kindergarten and 1st grade teachers are planning a materials/supplies pick up this week. These materials may include hands-on manipulatives and activities, books and decodables, and materials for upcoming science or social studies units. We know that some materials need to be printed and shared which is why the teachers are working on gathering this work to distribute. I will be making calls to remind you. All materials will be labeled with your child's name and placed outside so you just need to swing by and pick up the bag; if you are unable to pick up these items during the time specified, please contact your child's teacher. Thank you for continuing to pick up these materials to help your child.
I pray for your continued health and safety in the new year. Should the health of the county improve, I will notify you in multiple ways for a return date for in-person instruction. Thank you for all you do to support Denton Elementary School.

Congratulations, DES Carson Scholar Nominee!
The Carson Scholarship is a $1,000 college scholarship awarded to students who serve their community and excel academically. Schools can only nominate one student who then moves on to the official scholarship application process.
This year, DES had 17 students eligible for the nomination. Based on their school level application, DES is proud to announce that Mackenzie Johnson has been chosen as the nominee. Our BEST WISHES to her as we hope she will be chosen as a 2021 Carson Scholar winner!! Thank you to the other wonderful 5th graders who were nominated. We are proud of all of our Dolphins. #DESTreasures
