Tumuaki Kōrero
Kia ora whānau,
While the messaging this week was inconclusive it seems clear that we will be online learning until at least the 15th of November before there is a possibility that we may return to face to face school. We are following all government guidelines and as soon as we have more information about what a return to school might look like, we will share this with you so you can prepare our learners for what the new normal will be.
Our staff are continuing to work hard to offer interesting and challenging online learning opportunities for our learners. Over the next few weeks, they will assess all of the learning your child has participated in this year to give a final effort and achievement grade for 2021. They will also write a summary general comment. The teachers will begin this mahi on Tuesday 9th November. As explained previously there will be no face to face meetings or workshops on this day, however, learners will have ongoing weekly work and some Wellbeing activities. Please note this day has changed due to the Government announcement this week regarding moving to stage 2 on Wednesday 10th November.
Thank you for your continued collaboration during this challenging time. We rely on your support for our online learning programme to be successful but know how challenging this can be for working parents, please seek that balance for you and your children. Wellbeing of our learners, staff and community is always our primary focus.
On another note, I will be leaving Takapuna Normal Intermediate School at the end of the year to take up a new position as the foundation principal of Milldale School. Milldale School is a Y1-8 school situated just north of Silverdale and is due to open in 2023. Although I am very sad to leave TNIS, it is a fantastic opportunity to be part of the development of a brand new school. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the learners, and community that I have been involved with over the last four years. Also a shout out to the amazing staff at TNIS and in particular I would like to acknowledge the mahi and support of Sandy Harford and Kate Watson. A huge thanks also to the Board of Trustees members, both current and past.
Ngā mihi nui,
Wendy

Guitar Lessons - Dave Gatman
Hi there! I have taught Guitar to kids in schools for over 15 years. I love working with kids and inspiring the next generation of musicians. I like to make my lessons as positive and fun as possible, teaching a range of songs from traditional folk/blues to the current pop and rock tunes.
I've played the guitar in a large variety of settings, and I'm currently in a covers band playing at weddings, bars and parties.
Lessons are in groups of up to 4 at a time, and cost $20.00 plus gst, for half an hour.
Individual lessons are offered if I feel like the student will benefit from them, and if I have space. These cost $35.00 plus GST per half hour.
Lessons are on Wednesday mornings at TNIS as well.
Feel free to contact me - dave.gatman@musiqhub.co.nz. Or text/call on 021 2221456.
Thanks,
Dave
