Happy First Week of School!

Message from Ms. Mathis

Hello! I am so happy that you are in my class this year! Several of our activities this week are designed to help me get to know you better. Our assignments for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday are in your paper packet or posted on this newsletter! If you picked up the paper packet, you will complete these assignments on paper and turn them in along with your signed forms. If you did not pick up the paper packet, you will complete these assignments online. Beginning on Thursday, your assignments will become available on Google Classroom starting at 8:00 a.m! Let's have an AWESOME first week in fourth grade!!

Monday, August 17th

1.) Letter to Ms. Mathis

3. Read for 30 minutes


Use a 30-minute timer to time yourself while you read a book of your choice. You may choose a book that you have at home or pick from our online classroom library (featured below). After you have read for 30 minutes, use your reading log to create a summary of what you have read.

Tuesday, August 18th

1. Complete the "All About You" inventory

2. Create a "Me Bag"


Be prepared to share at least one item from your "Me Bag" during our first Zoom meeting! I can't wait to learn more about you!

Wednesday, August 19th

1.) Name Tag Glyph


Follow the directions to create your own Name Tag Glyph! If you picked up the paper packet, you will create your glyph on the paper that was provided. If you are completing your assignments online, use a regular piece of copy or notebook paper to create your glyph. You will need crayons, colored pencils, or markers to complete this assignment. Be prepared to share your unique name glyph with our class on Zoom!

2.) Math Review

Thursday, August 20th and Friday, August 21st

All assignments will be posted in Google Classroom from now on! Assignments will be posted each day at 8:00 a.m. After completing an assignment, make sure it is turned in so that you will receive credit. Please look for grades and comments on assignments several times a week! Please let me know if you have any questions navigating Google Classroom!
