The Titan Way - Respectful Language, Attitude and Actions
It's hard to believe, but March is almost upon us! As we move into the Spring season, we know how busy the school year can get. We have both AP and State Testing, prepping for WASC, school activities including Senior events and Titan Showcase and of course, planning for the next year with the master schedule and new students.
I appreciate the hard work that many PLCs are putting into their common syllabus work and using pull-out days to effectively strengthen their team. I hope your PLC has taken advantage of a pull-out day. There is still time!
Many of our athletes are competing in the CIF playoffs these next few weeks. Make sure you cheer them on and offer your support. Go Titans!!
Let's get to some main points for the week.
A. Faculty Meeting. We will see everyone this Wednesday after school at 3:00 in the theater. We will focus on WASC, Master Schedule Items, Titan Showcase and updates on the HVAC project.
B. Common Syllabus and PLC Planning. Mrs. Candelario has provided an email with specific directions to submit your rough drafts. Let us know if you have any concerns. Remember: This is a work in progress. Don't forget to check in with Karina about pullout days if you need more planning time.
C. SLT. I will be arranging for a pull-out day with our SLT members. I will also be looking at calling on our Department Chairs to join us during this training day as we finalize items for PLC alignment and discuss future opportunities for intervention support systems. We will also have a dialogue around some big picture items for the master schedule and preparing for the WASC.
D. WASC Update. We shift our attention to WASC this March. A huge component of our WASC will be around our evaluation of school goals and progress. Please be involved in the dialogue as we implement our strategies.
E. Next SSA Training. Our trainer had to postpone the training to March. We are still looking for about 20 fabulous freshmen and 20 super sophomore to participate in the next Safe School Ambassador training on March 10-11. We need a well-rounded group of students. Please feel free to give us your suggestions (email Mark Brickley). Please submit those names as soon as possible. We are also looking for about 4-5 staff members interested in the two day training. If you are interested, please let Mr. Brickely know as well.
F. PD Opportunities. There are still opportunities to attend PDs. Let me and Karina know if you are interested in these great opportunities.
Building the Restorative Classroom
Participants will learn practical strategies for building a restorative environment in the classroom. Training will focus on relationship building, the 4 Essential Elements of the Restorative Classroom, responding to challenging behavior, and taking care of ourselves so we can effectively do this work. We recommend that participants have completed “Introduction to Restorative Practices” training.

H. Parking. Several teachers have made us aware of students parking in the teacher's areas. We will do our best to monitor and advise students. If this happens to you, please give us the description of the car and license plate number.
I. Titan Showcase (formerly know as Titan Expo). We will discuss the Titan Showcase at our faculty meeting. The Showcase is set for March 19th with a minimum day on March 20th.
