Monthly Newsletter January 2023
Principal's Message
Happy January & Welcome to 2023!
I hope that all of our Livingston and Park 6 families have had a relaxing and eventful break. These times are important for all. It is always a great time for family, friends and fun. All of us here at Livingston have enjoyed some time with our loved ones and we are ready to see all 300+ smiling faces back at school on January 3rd!
We have a lot to look forward to in the first part of 2023. We have a number of after school programs, that are either continuing or starting up. Please watch our school Facebook, Instagram, or website for updates. Programs tend to fill quickly. Here is a sample of just some of the programs we have to offer.
- Print Shop
- Getting Crafty/Earring Making
- Painting with the Timmers
- Tutoring & Activities (Grades 3-5)
- Tutoring Grades (K-2)
- MakerSpace
We have officially made it to the last half of the school year. The second half of the year brings a ton of fun events, field trips, another round of parent teacher conferences, Love & Logic Classes, Goodies with Guardians, snowshoe trips, winter music concert, and MUCH MORE. Please check out our "Upcoming Events" tab below to see what we have going on in January.
The Park 6 Board of Trustees met for the regular December Board Meeting on December 20th. They have approved the official school calendar for the 2023-2024 school year. Please see the attachment below.
As we move into a new year I hope to continue high standards of learning, share with students the importance of character traits, continue to instill kindness and its' importance, value positivity, and encourage students and staff to be the best version of themselves each and every day. I love the culture of Livingston and want students to feel loved and cared for. Our staff will continue to collaborate together to do the best for your students in 2023 and years to come.
Thank you again for all of your continued support in your child's education. We could not do what we do day in and day out without you and your children. Thank you for allowing us to be just a small part of their day and lives. We can't wait to see you all on January 3rd! Happy New Year!!
I hope you will enjoy some photos of our students and staff enjoying break.

Arrival and Dismissal
Students need to be outside or at breakfast in the morning.
Breakfast starts at 7:45am
Time before school is used by teachers to plan and prepare lessons and materials. Because teachers are unavailable to supervise them, we cannot allow students to be in the hallways before 8:10am, unless you have arranged tutoring.
Instructional Bell- 8:10am
If you arrive after the bell you will be marked tardy.
Tardy: The elementary schools of Park 6 take attendance twice daily. Attendance is taken first thing in the morning and afternoon. In the morning , students who are late but arrive before 8:30 are counted tardy. If they arrive after 8:30, they would be considered absent for the morning. In the afternoon, students absent longer than 20 minutes after 11:30 will be considered absent for the afternoon.
Note: Habitual tardiness is dealt with at the building level. Five (5) tardies to school equal one unexcused absence.
Dismissal Bell-3:15pm
Friday Dismissal-Early out every Friday-1:35pm
Please call the office before 2:30pm if you have a change in after school plans. This helps with getting notes to the children in a timely manner. If we don't hear from you, we will assume to continue on with regular after school plans.
SchoolPass-Visitor Management
Please sign in with our new school visitor sign-in/check-in app located in the vestibule. This allows you to check in quickly as a visitor, parent, contractor, and volunteer. For repeat visitors, you can use your QuickPins and for those not in the system, please bring your ID for a quick set up.
Thank you for your patience with our new safe school pass program.
Note from our Nurse
February is National Children’s Dental Health Month
Dental screenings will take place on Wednesday, February 1st. Your child will bring home a card with results of the screening. Thank you to our local dentists who volunteer their time for these screenings.
Dental health is an important part of overall health. Tips to help your child maintain a healthy smile:
· Brush teeth at least twice a day with an ADA-accepted toothpaste. Aim for 2 minutes of brushing and clean all tooth surfaces.
· Clean between teeth daily with floss. Tooth-decay causing bacteria linger between teeth where toothbrush bristles can’t reach.
· Eat a balanced diet, avoiding sugary snacks and drinks.
· Visit your dentist regularly for professional cleanings and oral exams. Ask the dentist about your child’s specific fluoride needs.
