Dress Up Day: On Friday, November 3rd we are inviting students to dress as your future self for Career Day!
Skating Party: We are excited to announce the return of roller skating parties for the 2023-24 school year. We will host our first skating party on November 6 for students in grades 3 & 4. We will host 3 roller skating parties throughout the year for each grade level.
Anti-Bullying: Throughout the month of October, our students engaged in many activities related to bullying prevention. The conversations surrounding bullying are so important and can help our students develop skills and strategies to say no to bullying and to spread kindness. We concluded the month with an Anti-Bullying Assembly performed by magician Mike Seege. Additionally Mrs. Donlon’s kindergarten class and Mrs. Stroud’s fourth grade class received the spirit stick for their participation in the anti-bullying activities.
Grades 5-8 Information
The Artist of the Month Awards: The Artist of the Month is an award that is given by Ms. Howard (Middle School Art Teacher) to students in grades 5-7 who demonstrate good character, great effort, and skill in art. One student from each art class is chosen each month based on the character traits of the month. September’s character traits were responsibility and integrity. The fifth grade recipients were: Maggie Miglorie and Caitlyn Lipome. The sixth grade recipients were: Meadow Clarry and Sarah Coleman. The seventh grade recipients were: Carter Ballew, Stephen Barsham, Natalie Bacchetta, and Arianna Tirabassi.
Penny Jar Wars to Support the Aherns-Fox Circle Preservation Society: Penny Jar War Challenge between the grade levels started on October 2nd. Collection times were before school and after school. For this first challenge $351.51 was collected. All pennies or coins collected support the Avon Aherns-Fox Circle Preservation Society for the purchase of a fire truck that was in use over 100 years ago. This fire truck will be a great addition to help preserve Avon’s wonderful history. For more information or to donate please use this link: Aherns-Fox Circle Preservation Society.
Scholastic Book Fair (October 10th-13th, 2022): The Avon PTA collaborated with Ms. Mucci (Library Media Specialist) to oversee the Middle School Scholastic Book Fair. Michelle Bachetta (Avon PTA President) and Erica Borsching (Avon PTA Vice President) volunteered their time to oversee the set up/take down and the daily operations of the book fair. Any money raised from the book fair will be used to purchase books for the library. By participating in this book fair event, a BOGO book fair event will be held in the spring for our school. On behalf of the middle school community, I would like to thank Erica Borsching and Michelle Bachetta for supporting and volunteering their time to work at the book fair. Our students appreciated being able to purchase books for their own reading pleasure and personal book collections. Thank you Middle School families for supporting the book fair at the school.
