Alms for the Poor - December 9, 2015

Dear Parents,

On behalf of the school staff, please accept our sincere thanks for the many ways you supported us during these days following the loss of our music teacher. Prayers, kind words, comfort food, cards, calls, gentle pats, flowers, and smiles were all helpful in our time of grief. Special thanks to the many volunteers who assisted the school by volunteering time to cover duty during dismissal last Friday. This allowed the staff to attend the Prayer Service. All these responses accent the loving, faithful community of Wardsville. Thank you all so much.

This week at school we are working to return to a normal routine and enjoy the season of Advent. At this time, music instruction is being delivered by substitute teachers. It is my hope to find that special person who can step into the music classroom in January to continue the good works of Miss Hirsch.

Yesterday, Dec. 8, we celebrated both the Feast of the Immaculate Conception and the beginning of the Holy Year of Mercy. The school “opened” its own Holy Door of Mercy. Mercy is God’s gift of compassion and forgiveness. It is a reflection of his generous heart. We too are called to offer this generosity by being ready to forgive others and extend compassion. This is the greatest action we can take as followers of Jesus.

During this year we will celebrate in special ways the endless love and mercy that God has for us. All God asks us to do is to be loving and merciful to others. Sometimes we fail in our efforts, and God understands that. We are so blessed to be able to start over again and try again each time we fail. The beauty of the Sacrament of Reconciliation gives us the grace to help us along the way. Students will have an opportunity to receive this sacrament during the school day next week.

May the blessings of the Advent season be with all of you!

Before School Care

Regular supervision of students begins at 7:20 a.m. in the morning and ends at 3:20 p.m. The school provides this service to our families through teacher contract.

Before School Care is a fee ($100) per family, per school year for all students who are at school between 6:55 a.m. - 7:20 a.m.

After School Care is from 3:20 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. and a fee is charged.

Classes begin at 7:45 and students are expected to be in the supervision of their classroom teacher at that time. The school has seen many tardy students this year. Please have children to school on time as they do miss important announcements and activities when they are late. In addition, their late arrival disrupts instruction in the classroom. Thank you for attention to this.

No After School Care on Dec. 22, 2015
