Neuroparasitology

Neuroparasitology is a new branch of science that deals with parasites that can control the neurological system of the host.

How Neuroparasitology important

Parasites come in all shapes and forms. Like tapeworms that infest intestines to the microscopic infectious agent of malaria, "parasites are usually inconvenient and sometimes lethal."

How this topic affects humans

"The parasite grows in a rodent, but it needs to get into a cat somehow to reproduce." People infected with Toxoplasma have slower reaction times and are "less altruistic" than non-infected people

How long have they been researching this topic

They have been researching this for years. It is hard telling when they started they believe there is undocumented tests. Current data on parasites that causes changes in host behavior suggest that such interactions may be more ubiquitous in nature than previously imagined.

Neuroparasitology

There is one group of parasites that is particularly pernicious. These are the parasites that hijack their victims' nervous systems, reducing them to helpless zombies."There is something horrifying and wondrous about a tiny "implant" being able to control such a large animal machine'.'
