Betsy's Bits
September 23, 2018
In Case You Missed It:
Lee County Schools will operate on a regular schedule on Monday, September 24. I'm looking forward to a FULL week of school!!
Last Bits I reported on Malisa Anderson and family being mandatory evacuated from her home because of their location to the Cape Fear River. This evacuation has since be lifted. I was not notified of any issues when she returned.
Cynthia Wicker was impacted by the Deep River overflowing it's banks in the Gulf 15/501 area. She was unable to get "off the island" Tuesday-Thursday. Many of us saw her after school on Thursday as soon as she was able to get out. She was retrieving a cheeseburger for "Mama Pinkie" that was tired of eating home-cooked food :)
This is a reminder to accept all notes from students and code them excused if it has to do with issues from Hurricane Florence. Please report loss and issues with housing to the appropriate counselors and administrators.
Please keep Lauren Black, EC Teacher, and family in your prayers. Her husband's grandmother passed away. The funeral is on Monday.
Susan Weunski will be joining the 7th grade Catamount Team as the math teacher officially on October 8. Susan will be doing her lateral entry requirements beginning on Monday, so will be around some during the time leading up to her start date. She is from Sanford, has 3 children (I taught one of her boys in kindergarten), and has worked as a tutor for many years at Tramway and Ingram. She took a teacher assistant position this school year, but really wanted to become a teacher. Please make sure to make Susan feel welcome and supported when you see her. :)
We scheduled surgery for my youngest daughter, Morgan (20) for Wednesday, September 26. This will be her second knee surgery. This time they will be breaking her tibia to realign movement of her knee and reattach some ligament that has been torn at some point. Please keep her in your prayers and know I will not be at school on Wednesday. Hold down the fort and as always, take care of each other!
