Hi Families! This year, our specialist team wants you to be able to take a look inside our classrooms. This is the first of many "Specialists Corner" for you to see the fun activities we're doing, and communicate any upcoming events or activities!

*Our first annual King Elementary Ultimate Lion Challenge is this Friday, September 30th! Students will navigate challenges that showcase their school spirit, agility, perseverance, strength, and speed. Wear your King colors and bring your school spirit! Fun for all ages and abilities, this event will help raise important funds for supporting King students and staff. This event takes place during the school day and parents can attend to cheer students on. Please visit pledgestar.com/king to register your child(ren) and start collecting donations!

*We're celebrating the new school year and our kids' efforts at the Ultimate Lion Challenge with Kona at King. We hope the entire King Community will join us for a free Kona Ice at our first community event of the year! The event will be held rain or shine Friday, September 30 from 6:30-8pm.

*The PTO has many fun events coming up, as well as other volunteer opportunities. If you'd like to volunteer to help plan an upcoming event (Trunk or Treat in October maybe?!?), or have an idea for a club, or would like to help with fundraising or upcoming teacher appreciation initiatives, please fill out our online volunteer form. In case you missed this, the District has recently announced that we are resuming the home visits program in partnership with Parent Teacher Home Visits, a non-profit, grassroots network, in an effort to build stronger relationships with our families. Please read Dr. Tremblay’s letter about this program on the FPS Website: https://bit.ly/FPS91622.

• We ask that snacks (that are often eaten in the classroom) do not include nuts or nut butters. All classroom spaces at King this year will be allergy friendly rooms. Students are, however, allowed to have nuts and nut butters as part of their lunches in the cafeteria.
• In the cafeteria each classroom has 2 tables. One is labeled allergy friendly. We ask that any students that have nut or nut butter allergies sit at these tables; we ask that any students who have nut or nut butters as part of their lunch sit at the other tables.
• Students have been introduced to this in the cafeteria already, and will be reminded by their classroom teachers again.
