What are we Learning?

We are studying pictographs, bar graphs, interpreting data, and place value during the month of September.

We will be working on our reading stamina. We will also be learning how to read with a purpose to answer within, beyond, and about questions.

Students will be writing small moment stories based on real life experiences.

We will discuss properties of matter (solid, liquid, gas). We will also discuss the changes in matter.

Social Studies

South Carolina geography! We are learning places, features, and regions of South Carolina. We will also be learning about Native Americans in our region (Cherokee, Yemassee, and Catawba).

Throughout the nine weeks, your child will be challenged to create goals to become better readers. Therefore, this month there will not be a set reading time each night but it is expected that they read nightly. Nightly reading will be recorded in a reading log that needs to be returned to school each day.

Behavior Expectations

All 3rd graders are expected to follow Patriot PBIS expectations:

Be Respectful

Be Responsible

Be Safe

Students are using this in the classroom and are learning how to navigate the website. Right now we are working on self-correcting addition and/or subtraction quizzes.
