Culturally Responsive Teaching: Empowering Students

How do you empower students intellectually, socially, emotionally and politically by using cultural reference to impart knowledge, skills, and attitudes? Culturally Relevant Teaching: hands-on lessons to take back to your classrooms that help bridge the home and school cultures of students.

We are looking to put a team together to attend the AVID CRT workshop on August 12th & 13th (8-3:30). Board Credits and CEUs will be available.

If you are interested in attending, please email Tina TODAY!!!

Windows in Classroom Doors

FROM: David Moredock, Emergency Preparedness and Safety Coordinator

The majority of district class rooms have now been outfitted with a window in the classroom door. These windows are made of either laminated safety glass or wired safety glass. The purpose of these windows is to allow for natural observation into the classroom throughout the school day. The windows in the door must remain unobstructed at all times during normal classroom instruction. The only times these windows can be completely covered is during a lockdown. To expedite covering the window during a lockdown, teachers are encouraged to pre-hang a window cover adjacent to the window. Some methods used to pre-hang the cover are tape, Velcro, and magnets. It is noted that covering the window during a lockdown is recommended but not required. Hiding in the corner of the room along the same wall as the doorway will still offer concealment, even if the window is uncovered.

Picture Day is Friday, May 8. Only students who prepay will be photographed.

Summer Printing... Send it Now!

It’s not too early to start submitting printing for the 2015-16 school year. Just complete the print request sheet and note “SUMMER” in the “date needed” area. Printing will be waiting for you when you return in August. If you wait until you return to submit print requests, you may not get your materials back until October!

Your efforts now will help this fall!!
