Our Lady of Mercy
NEWSLETTER | TERM 4 | WEEK 1 | 13 OCTOBER 2021
OLOM Family Prayer
As we gather together again in friendship and community, we are reminded of how blessed we all are.
United in your love, we stand with our grieving families in compassion and practise loving kindness to ourselves and all those around us.
Jesus said, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”
Lord, we ask that you send your comfort to these students and their families, wrap your arms around them and hold them tight.
Let us engage in the power of prayer that connects us all with our values and beliefs;
May the children, our parents, our teachers and our friends all be well, happy and peaceful, may no harm come to us,
May we all have patience, courage, understanding, and determination to overcome difficulties.
Almighty God, help us to know that we are all your children, that all nations belong to one great family, and that all of our religions lead to you.
Please bless us with a loving heart like Jesus, so that our words and actions are one in unity.
May we listen to each other and walk with good heart, hand in hand to face the future.
God of goodness and love, hear our prayers
Amen.
Message from the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome back to school and to what will be a busy final term in 2021. We have recently experienced some sad events in our school community with the death of one of our teachers and now a parent too. We take comfort from our faith during these difficult times and remember that Jesus said “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” As a Catholic school community, at times like this we pray for a loving heart like Jesus so that we may be compassionate to those in need of care in our school family.
This term calendar presents with many opportunities for us to gather together to celebrate our wonderful school community. Please look at the calendar and diarise important dates.
We are introducing cultural morning teas to make families feel welcome in our school community. We want all families to know that the wealth in our school is counted in our diversity and that all belong here. We honour, value and acknowledge the diverse cultures and languages that make up our school family and we want everyone to experience the sense of love, care and respect that our community has for one another. Our first cultural morning teas this term will be for the Vietnamese and the Dinka communities. More information will be forthcoming through our Facebook page and in upcoming newsletters. Next year we will have morning teas for other cultural groups in our community.
If your child is leaving our school at the end of this year, please contact the office to let us know as we have had many enquiries for enrolments and will only be able to offer positions to other families if we know there is a place in a particular grade.
Our Kindy classes for 2022 are filling up very quickly. We do not want siblings to miss a place. If you currently have a child in the school and a child eligible to attend Kindy in 2022, you need to formally enrol them and have an interview with the principal. If you have family members or friends who want to enrol their child into Kindy at our school, please encourage them to pick up an enrolment pack from Mrs Young at the front office as soon as possible.
I will end this newsletter with a prayer for all those in our school community who have lost a loved one and whose hearts are very sad. Lord, we ask that you send your comfort to our students and their families during their time of grief. Wrap your arms around them and hold them tight in your loving care. We ask that you guide our thoughts, words and actions so that we may be kind and gentle and a source of loving comfort to our children and their families in their time of need. We ask all these things in your loving name Lord. Amen.
God bless you all.
