Tigerville Times
March Edition
From the Principal's Desk
We are looking forward to warmer weather and sunny days. Please remember that this Saturday night our clocks spring forward an hour for Daylight Saving Time. Be sure to get plenty of rest and exercise as we move to an outdoor season. Don't forget to read every night and do your homework to exercise your brain too!
Sincerely,
D.Jackson
P.E. Lines
It is imperative that ALL students wear tennis shoes to PE. We have had more students without them than normal, and this limits participation, due to safety concerns. Please help your child remember to wear tennis shoes on their PE day.
ATTENTION RUNNING CLUB MEMBERS: All members who ordered the running club t-shirt will be receiving those during the first week of March. The plan is for all shirts to be sent home following the running club meeting on March 4th. If you are unable to attend that meeting, the shirt will be sent home the next school day.
Music Notes
The kids did an amazing job with Mr. Holland, our guest artist. You should ask them about the many different hats he wore over the three weeks and the different percussion instruments they were able to play.
Now it's time to start thinking about Madagascar! Melman, Alex, Marty, Gloria and the whole gang will be on the stage Friday, April 5th and Monday, April 8th to give you a Crack-a-lackin good time. Mark your calendars so you don't miss the fun.
Counselor's Corner
This month at Tigerville our students will be learning about the Good Character Word of Tolerance. Tolerance means even though we may not agree or like another person’s opinion or belief, we can show respect that by not arguing or belittling their belief or opinion.
For our students, tolerance might come up in simple differences of opinions or tastes, favorite football teams, or activities. It is these situations in which we can start to teach the idea of tolerance. Parents can help children learn tolerance too, by demonstrating respect in words and actions, towards those whose opinions or beliefs differ from theirs.
March is an exciting month for our 5th graders who will be visiting Blue Ridge Middle School for a tour, and will be registering for their 6th grade classes.
Our Mentor program has started and we are very excited about the community members who have volunteered to mentor and support some of our students through weekly lunch gatherings here at school. We still have openings for more Mentors for those who are interested.
