Grading on-line through Canvas
Requirements
Responsibilities
- track and grade discussions
- grade assignments
- keep members on pace through e-mails and announcements
- report those who complete the course to Laura Vanduzer and Dana Miller so points can be awarded
*All facilitators attend a one hour training to learn how to grade through Canvas
*All facilitators receive access to their course at least 2 weeks prior to it starting to review material
*All facilitators receive a grading guide
Opening Your Course
- Add your picture and contact information to the Home page
- Create an announcement welcoming participants and having them pay close attention to the suggested pacing guide.
- Remind participants that no extensions can be given.
Closing Your Course
- Send a complete list of participants that finished to Dana Miller and Sabrina Mastronicola.
- Submit your log for payment. Hours indicated must be EXACT according to the chart below. Be sure that any hours indicated on the log are outside contractual hours or are on days you do not work.
Stipend Pay
Facilitators are paid an hourly rate (approximately $23 per hour) through a flex scale:
- up to 10 people COMPLETE the course; earn 10 hours of pay
- up to 25 people COMPLETE the course; earn 20 hours of pay
- up to 35 people COMPLETE the course; earn 30 hours of pay
- up to 50 people COMPLETE the course; earn 40 hours of pay
*payment is for facilitators of district-wide courses only. Site-based facilitators do not get a stipend
Submitting your log for payment (district courses ONLY)
- Please be sure your log reflects the exact amount of hours you are owed (based on COMPLETERS)
- Ensure the the times documented on your log include AM or PM and do not fall within your school's contractual hours
- For reason, please include "Reading Endorsement Facilitator" on all lines
- Submit your log to Dana Miller
Course work must be complete by end dates. No extensions may be given for participants.
At the conclusion of the course, send a full list of names of completers to BOTH Dana Miller and Sabrina Mastronicola.

Notes to make for participants:
Please note the following about working in an online course:
- Within 1 week of the start date, you must log into the course and complete the Academic Integrity statement or you will be dropped from the course.
- Follow the recommended schedule of due dates so you do not get behind.
- Pay close attention to your gradebook. Any comments from your instructor will be visible there.
- Enable notifications within Canvas by clicking Account > Notifications. You can be notified of alerts through a variety methods.
- All assignments must be completed, Dyslexia Quiz must get 100%, and course average must be at least 80% to receive course credit. Assignments needing improvement must be updated before the conclusion of the course.
- Keep the end in mind. Once the course is concluded (per the due date for the last assignment), Frontline credits will be applied for only those who have completed all of the requirements and made any updates requested.
