March 13, 2015
Hello Maureen M. Welch Parents,
What a difference a week makes. The sunshine and warmer temperatures have melted most of the snow, and spring is on the way. Our Spring Break is on the way, as well, as there are two more weeks of school remaining until the students’ weeklong respite. I encourage parents to speak with their children about giving their best during these days leading up until the break. There is so much quality teaching and learning that is taking place at school, and the children should maximize each day. Thank you!
Tomorrow is another day in which there will be registration at Welch for children entering kindergarten in September 2015. It will take place today (March 13th) from 1:30 to 3:30 PM. Children must be five years of age on or before September 1, 2015 to be eligible for kindergarten enrollment. If you have friends and neighbors who have kids who might be eligible for Kindergarten for the next school year, please share this information. For more information, visit this LINK.

C.A.R.E.S. Coin Recipients for February
Congratulations to Gianluca McKenna (Mrs. Gecht), Ethan Nussbaum (Mr. O’Brien), Shivaan Gandhi (Mrs. Hughes), James Williams (Mrs. Taragna), and McGuigan (Mrs. Wunder). They were randomly selected from our group of students who earned C.A.R.E.S. tokens in the month of February. These children had their names announced at school this week, and they’ll have a Pretzel Party with me on March 20th. Congratulations to these students and everyone who made good choices and earned a coin in February.
On Monday, March 23rd, there is an in-district field trip at Council Rock High School South that will feature Lea Salonga, star of Broadway and Disney films. Lea will give an interactive vocal workshop and performance. Also performing at this workshop will be Welch sixth grader, Lucas Nunez, who is one of just six Council Rock students selected for this honor. To qualify for this, Lucas sang “Where is Love?” from Oliver, and he is going to continue to make our school proud. Way to go, Lucas!
United Way Food Drive
Thanks so much to all of the families who sent in items to school for Operation Helping Hand. This drive is vital to the food pantries at a time when the pantries traditionally are empty. We'll filled so many boxes for this cause, and your generosity was appreciated.
