Give 5 Read 5

Thanks for encouraging your students to participate in this initiative. The number of books our kiddos brought in is amazing.

Blueberries

June 3 is the deadline to place a blueberry order. Let the office know if you are interested. The Kiwanis Club sponsors many activities/programs that benefit the schools including Back Pack Pals.

Miss Malarkey

The link below is a really funny (I think) parody of standardized testing. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Breakfast on Monday

Southern Pines United Methodist will provide breakfast in both A and B buildings Monday morning. We are so fortunate to have such gracious people in our community.

Testing Ethics Reminders

As we move into the testing “season”, including End of the Year mClass assessing, please reinforce with your staff the importance of maintaining test security. Key is the understanding that materials should not be copied. Below is a short version of the ethics requirements.

Ethical testing practices include but are not limited to

1. informing students about the tests and why the tests are important;

2. informing students and parents about how the tests and test results will be used;

3. preparing students to take the tests;

4. ensuring that all eligible students take the tests;

5. encouraging students to attempt to respond to all test items and do their very best; and

6. sharing the results of the tests along with any available interpretation of the scores with students and parents within the allotted timelines.

Reminder

Make sure you clear the memory on your classroom calculators.

Thank You

Thanks to all that participated in the author study. Several students shared with me how much they enjoyed it. What a great way to develop young readers.

Small Visitors

In case you haven't heard we discovered two small raccoons this morning outside of the cafeteria. Mr. Taylor watched over them until some folks arrived from Weymouth to pick them up. You just never know!
