What is Fraud?
wrongful or criminal deception intended to result in financial or personal gain; the crime of using dishonest methods to take something valuable from another person; a person who pretends to be what he or she is not in order to trick people; a copy of something that is meant to look like the real thing in order to trick people
What Does It Look Like?
Any omission or concealment that is injurious to another that allows a person to take unconscionable advantage of another my constitute for criminal fraud. The most common type of fraud is the obtaining of property by giving a check for which there are insufficient funds in the signer's account.
Keep Your Identity Secret
Do not give your credit card, social security, or any other financial information by phone or email unless you initiate the contact and you know who you are dealing with. High pressure tacks; such as "You will lose out if you don't act now!" are dangerous signs and usually will result in you becoming a fraud victim.
