Creative Fun with Images
Overview
Whenever we create presentations or digital posters of any kind, we will usually insert images throughout the project. However, when we tend to do that, we usually notice a white square background that dominates the visual appeal of the image. So, in order to give our presentations a much more professional appearance, there are several things that can be done to ensure the best possible look. For example, we can insert images with a transparent background, eliminating the square background, and we can transfer images into different shapes, increasing the visual appeal of whatever it is we are designing. Below are a few tools and sites we can use to ensure the images we insert are of the best possible quality and appearance.

Lunapic
One of the most complete sites for image transformation is Lunapic. Once a picture is uploaded, or the image URL is pasted in, the amount of edits that can be made are quite astonishing. The simplest, and feature that I used in my classes was the Transparent background option. In addition, you can add borders and apply filters. What's really neat about this site is the ability to add animation to existing images. Anywhere from a rotating cube to reflecting water, these can be added to create an eye-catching display for your selected image.

Google Search Tips
It's great to have these programs to transform the images that allow us to make an image transparent, or change their effect. But, with a couple search tips when using Google, these may not be needed. For example, adding "transparent background" to your search criteria will search for images that already have one. To take it one step further, clicking on the "Tools" drop down, and the option to search different sizes, specific colors, and even usage rights is available.
