Kindergarten Newsletter ACES
Week Of April 2nd
Highlights from last week....
In Reader's Workshop, we worked on how readers think while they read. We used our schema as we read our books. The children worked on making text to text and text to self connections while they read. They practiced using the words "this book reminds me of....."
In Math, we worked on number bonds and number sentences up to 10. We focused on subtracting or "breaking numbers apart" this week. We focused on number stories and worked on writing the sentence and creating a number bond to match the sentence. We also focused on reading number sentences to determine if we should add or subtract the numbers in the sentence.
In science, we learned all about plants and did some planting of our own. We will be creating plant journals to observe the growth process of the bean!
We also finished our Author Study on Eric Carle and created our own book using his techniques as our inspiration. The kids LOVED this unit!!

Notes from Miss Driscoll
I placed the book order last Monday, books should be coming in this week!
If you send your child in with ice cream money, please send it in a baggie or envelope with their name on it in their red folder. This way it won’t get lost or confused for someone else’s.
Thank you for all you do and have a great week!!
Notes from Mrs. Maillet
I am SO excited with the learning that is going on in our classroom. We are reading and writing machines! The kids are developing a real love for reading. Many of my friends spend their time "testing" kids with their letters and sight words and reading during our free choice time! Thank you for all that you do.
Our book orders should be delivered this week. Thank you for the support!
Notes from Mrs. Potter
Some of our friends have been having trouble with number reversals lately! If you get a chance, practice a little number writing at home!!
Reminder: Wednesday, April 4th is a half-day!
Wish list: We went through a great deal of tissues and Clorox wipes this past week and our backup stash is almost depleted.
Thank you for all that you do!
