SHARS Updates
- Updates Starting October 1st:
- Speech Language Therapy: The name and NPI of the referring licensed physician or another eligible referring provider must be listed on the claim and kept in the medical record for reimbursement of ST or Audiology services through SHARS.
- Speech Therapists and Audiologists whose evaluations serve as the referral must be enrolled in Medicaid as individual practitioners and must use their individual NPIs when submitting claims.
- If the prescribing/referring provider does not have an NPI, they need to obtain an NPI by completing the required application.
- Link to apply for an NPI: How to Apply | CMS
- Going forward, documentation of services must occur within 1 week (7 days) of the time the service is rendered.
Student Support Building
We are anticipating moving to the 2920 Complex possibly within the next month.
We Need Your Help - Ubuntu
- If you are in the area and can stop by the very warm Student Support Building and grab a box to take to your campus early next week that would be fantastic! Boxes are in the foyer against both walls and are labeled by campus. They need to go to the LIP teachers.
- Let's start a care fund! We are starting a fund to enable us to support Student Support Staff in times of need. If you would like to contribute, please contact Sharon Meanor. There is no obligation to contribute. Sharon is only able to accept cash (no venmo, paypal or checks).

Student Support Shout Outs!
Kathy Bonds - Kathy has stepped up and in, beyond what we could have expected over the last 12 months. We received resignations from HB teachers this week and Kathy has assumed a full time, 5 day a week assignment to help us out. She did the same last year as well.
Thank you Kathy!
Ann Le - Ann was featured in a radio show and article: https://www.edweek.org/teaching-learning/opinion-20-ways-to-support-students-with-learning-differences-this-year/2021/09
