Preschool Registration: What you need to know?

We will begin our online preschool registration for the 2020-21 school year on May 1st, and continue throughout the year. We welcome your application. All applications will be completed online through the link provided on the preschool page.

If you do not have internet access, then you can call 502-633-5123 and we can mail you the application. After application is completed. Please use the return envelope and Mail to Northside Early Childhood Center. (Postage and return address is already on the envelope),


The Kentucky Preschool Program is available to all children determined to be eligible. Families may begin the process to determine eligibility at their home school.


Four-year-old children without a disability or developmental delay must meet ALL the following criteria:

* Must be 4 years old before or on August 1 of the current school year

* Must be a resident of the Shelby County School District

* Must meet income eligibility guidelines (160%) - click income guidelines

Three and four-year-old children may be eligible for preschool upon the child’s third birthday if the determination has been made by the Admissions and Release Committee that the child has a developmental delay or disability and may be in need of special education services.


The following are the required documents your child will need prior to attending Northside Early Childhood Center Preschool Program:

  • Copy of Birth Certificate

  • Copy of Social Security Card

  • Physical Examination Form

  • Immunization Certificate

  • Vision Examination by an eye doctor

All immunizations must be up to date.

El Programa Preescolar de Kentucky está disponible para todos los niños que se determine que son elegibles. Las familias pueden comenzar el proceso para determinar la elegibilidad en su escuela de origen.

Los niños de cuatro años sin discapacidad o retraso en el desarrollo deben cumplir TODOS los siguientes criterios:

Shelby County: Ohio Valley Educational Cooperative Head Start Program

Head Start is offered to children who will be 3 years old on or before August 1st AND who meet Head Start eligibility requirements. The program is offered through the Ohio Valley Educational Cooperative locations at Clear Creek Elementary, Painted Stone Elementary and Northside Early Childhood Center. If your child will be attending the Head Start Program, one or more of the following income documents will be required in addition to the documents listed above.


· Copy of 2019 1040 Tax Return from ALL parents/guardians living in home

· Copy of K-TAP Award Letter

· Copy of SSI Award Letter

· Copy of Foster Parent Contract OR TEMPORARY Custody Court Order
