Let's Talk Early Dismissal
In the event of an early dismissal from school due to inclement weather---
1. We will send an all-call, mass email, mass text through our Blackboard Connect system that is attached to our school database. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE check your voicemail if you miss the call rather than call the school to find out who called. This ties up the phone lines in an already hectic situation.
2. We will be sending your child home however you intended them to come home when they walked out the door that morning. IF THAT NEEDS TO CHANGE, please do not call school. Instead, email crissy.nelson@boone.kyschools.us and we will notify your child of the change.
We will send all of the above info in the email/text/call we send if we ever have an early dismissal.
NJHS/Cooper CAN Grocery Drive
NJHS and Cooper Can are collaborating with The Welcome House, a non-profit that strives to provide a continuum of services that will end homelessness and promote stability for each person they serve.
The Grocery Drive will be held during the week from January 28th through February 1.
Come to the table in the lobby in the morning from 7 to 7:30 and list your name and SEL class.
The winning SEL class will receive a pizza party for the class with the most donations.

February 12th Student Led Conference Options
After our last round of conferences, we sent out a survey to determine how to plan best for our next round of conferences. Thank you to the 120 who responded to our survey. It has assisted us in planning the February 12th conferences.
Our focus in planning has been:
Provide a flexible, at-home option for SLCs
Allow for specific feedback from teachers regarding student performance.
OPTION 1: Student Led Progress Conferences at Ballyshannon on February 12th from 4-7pm
Students will have a checklist to help guide them through the conference.
This conference will highlight academic mastery progress to date, your child’s personal goal using the 4DX system of goal setting, feedback from teachers regarding your child’s progress this year.
Teachers will use this time block to schedule personal conferences for students they are concerned about meeting mastery this year.
OPTION 2: Student Led Progress Conferences at Home during week of February 12th with conference video submitted to Flipgrid
Students will have a checklist to help guide them through the conference.
This conference will highlight academic mastery progress to date, your child’s personal goal using the 4DX system of goal setting, feedback from teachers regarding your child’s progress this year.
Your child will use the Flipgrid tool to record the conference and submit it to their SEL teacher by the weekend of the 16th.
