Info you need to know for week of November 4-8!
Message from the principal
This week, we take time to recognize the many UHS students from grades 10, 11, and 12, who earned academic distinction during the spring of 2019 by earning a grade point of 3.5 or higher. On Wednesday, November 6th, we will be holding a special assembly in the PAC where these students and their families are invited to attend to hear a special message from former UMS Principal and current UCSD Human Resources Director, Loren DeKruyf.
Following the ceremony, students will go to the commons to get their academic certificate and other honors they have earned. Families attending are welcome to stay and take pictures with their students.
Thank you to all of our students who are putting in such tremendous work and are learning and achieving at high levels!
Sincerely,
Tim Carver
Principal

ASVAB Testing info
ASVAB Testing info
Urbandale High School is participating in the Department of Defense ASVAB Career Exploration Program. Students’ ASVAB test results will help interpret strengths and identify areas where students have an aptitude. Many people use the program results to help provide focus for their college major. Additionally, for those students in 12thgrade, who think that a military career is a direction they would like to pursue, the ASVAB results can be used for military enlistment.
Students participating in the ASVAB Career Exploration Program have no obligation to the military or to talk to a military recruiter.
This test is optional and available to any student in grades 10-12.
The ASVAB will be offered at UHS on Wednesday, November 13, from 2:00-4:00 p.m., in room 237.
Students can sign up in advance in the counseling office or contact their counselor.
Please contact your student’s counselor with questions.

Football participation survey
Parents,
Iowa High School Athletic Association is conducting a study regarding participation in high school football in Iowa. The following is an excerpt from the letter from the IHSAA about the survey.
"The purpose of the study is to discover reasons for students participating, or not, in the sport of football. All male high school students in Iowa are being invited to participate in an anonymous survey, which will be conducted in the student’s school. The IHSAA is facilitating this communication with you to give you the opportunity to decide if you would like your student to participate. If you and your student agree to participate, we will ask him to complete a short survey to be given at the school in the next two weeks. The survey will be completed online using a school computer and no personally identifiable information will be collected. If a student indicates at any time that he does not want to participate, the survey will not be given."
The full letter is linked below. We plan to administer this during Connections on Wednesday, November 6th.
