SDT News
December edition
Hello! Similar to last month's newsletters, we will cover accelerated learning during the first section. The focus for this newsletter is ELA. This information was shared during my SDT meeting. Kate received the information in her reading specialist meeting as well. :-) Below is a reminder of the BCPS four key areas.
Accelerate Learning: ELA
What does acceleration look like in ELA?
- provide extra phonics support
- provide just-in-time supports
- focus instruction on text-critical vocabulary, background knowledge and fluency practice
- provide authentic learning opportunities
- ensure grade level text is at the center for literacy learning
Acceleration through Assessment
- monitor student progress in relation to the grade level standards for students, teachers, and parents
- use the results to plan for and provide responsive instruction
- examine and reflect upon instructional practices to identify what went well and what needs to be revised to better support students achievement
Increase Data Literacy
Performance Matters Reports:
- Video tutorials are available under "news and assessments" tab
- Student item analysis report - once an assessment is selected, you can create additional filters to filter by school, teacher, and course - once in "add student filter" select the "geographical" tab.
- Scoreboard report - Select your assessment from the left hand side then the plus sign to upload assessment to compare it to the system. You can also add filters in the scoreboard report by selecting the 3 dots next to the plus sign.
- Comparative results report - Select your assessment. This report shows the comparison to the system and standards being measured. Click the student groups tab to analyze equity data.

SDT on the Shelf!
Look out for the SDT on the Shelf next week with her corny tech jokes. You never know where she will be. I hope you've missed seeing her as much as I did! Let me know when you see the SDT on the shelf each day next week. ;-)
BCPS Serve
BCPS Serve is back! You may remember BCPS Serve when it was an icon on our desktops. We will now use BCPS Serve to create tech support tickets. Please make note of your service number once you create the ticket. Below is the link to the directions if you need them. :-)
