Gilbert High School's Newsletter - May 2018
Principal's Message
Dear Parents/Guardians:
It is amazing to reflect on the speed with which this year has passed; our senior class, the Class of 2018, is understandably very excited and anxious as we approach May 23d. On behalf of the faculty and staff of your Gilbert High School, I would like to take time to thank all of you for your hard work in making this year a success.
Our teachers have been busy preparing students for their end of year exams. We have also had students complete their Advanced Placement exams, as well. I am confident of their success on all of these exams and I wish your child success as well!
As we close the year out, please make sure as parents and partners of our school that you are keeping a close eye on your child’s grades. It is always a source of constant stress and worry amongst educators that students run into late-semester difficulty academically. The more proactive we all can be with our students’ grades the better off our students can be.
I also would like to affirm that though we too understand how excited they are, this is Gilbert High School and we expect the absolute best in terms of behavior, attendance and academics from our students. We hold very high expectations for our students and we appreciate them and their hard work.
Senior parents, please take a moment to read the information inside about the Commencement ceremony to be held on May 23, 2018. We ask for decorum as we hold this important ceremony and milestone in your child’s life. We appreciate your support with maintaining the dignity of this ceremony. We have always stressed to our students the difference between a ceremony and celebration; this event highlights that distinction completely.
Knowing this, I would like to congratulate and send best wishes to the Class of 2018; they are a dynamic group of young men and women and I appreciate tremendously their hard work, grace and humor. I would also like to thank all of our young persons, regardless of grade level, who each and every day work hard to make GHS an outstanding school. They all enrich our campus community and please know that they are most appreciated indeed!
For all of our young persons at GHS, please continue to work and study diligently right until the very last day of school. We appreciate you, and wish you nothing but success!
Take care and Go Tigers!
Sincerely,
Christopher Stroud

¡Hola Amigos!
On Friday, May 4, GHS celebrated with the Mexican folklore dance group, Ollin Yoliztli, in the school cafeteria! Ollin Yoliztli means "Life and Movement" in the beautiful Aztec dialect, Nauatl. Trained and graduated from one of Mexico's most prestigious dance academies, El Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, professor and director, Ana Bonilla Moreno provides skilled choreography in order for audience members to experience the beauty and majesty of the Mexican Folklore Dance!
