In-Person Schedule Pickup Night-September 2
FREE Transportation for Laptop Pickup & Internet Hotspots
In preparation for the 20/21 school year and the first 9 weeks virtual start, HCPS has been planning a solution for families that need transportation to pick up technology. If you are a HCPS family that is unable to travel to a remote support hub to receive Chromebook(s) for your grade 1-5 elementary student(s), laptop(s) for your grade 6-12 secondary student(s), or iPad(s) for your PreK or K student(s), HCPS Technology has partnered with HCPS Transportation to offer you a transportation solution. Also, WIFI hotspots will also be available at support hubs for families that do not have internet in their home for students’ remote learning in 20/21 school year. This service will be available for the 3 days of September 2, 3, or 4th (Wed, Thu, Fri). HCPS Transportation will travel to your home with a bus/van and pick-up a parent or guardian that is designated as a contact in PowerSchool (HCPS student information system). Please be sure your students are registered as a student at HCPS for 20/21 school year and please be sure to bring a form of identification with you. Please notify me (eebroudy@henrico.k12.va.us) should you need transportation to come pick up technology for your student(s) and HCPS staff will call you back to arrange a pick-up date/time on the 3 days (Sept 2-4). Only necessary family members should travel on the HCPS bus to limit number of individuals on the bus. We understand this may be parent/guardian/children due to lack of child care. Once you are able to pick-up the needed technology for your students, the bus will take you home. Buses will have safety precautions in place for social distancing and will require riders to wear masks and exercise social distancing with others on the bus. Tip No. 2: Help is available for logging into your student’s new Chromebook or laptop:
If you need assistance with your student’s login/password or student I.D. number, please email helpdesk@henrico.k12.va.us and a member of our Technology team will respond within 24 hours to provide assistance.
- PowerSchool (grades pre-K through 12):
PowerSchool gives families easy access to class grades, attendance information and student schedules. The online tool comes in two versions: one for students, and one for parents and guardians called PowerSchool Parent Portal.
NEW: PowerSchool Parent Portal is available now for all grade levels! Parents who are new to PowerSchool can set up accounts for the first time, and returning families can log in for 2020-21 information. If you need assistance with your student’s login/password or student I.D. number, please email helpdesk@henrico.k12.va.us and a member of our Technology team will respond within 24 hours to provide assistance.
Also available now: Teacher assignments for elementary students are posted in PowerSchool Parent Portal for students in grades Pre K-5.
On Friday, Aug. 28 at 4:30 p.m. teacher assignments for middle and high schools will be available on PowerSchool Parent Portal for students in grades 6-12.
- RYCOR Online Forms (all grades) lets you do back-to-school paperwork from home. Yes, even in a virtual environment, our schools still must collect a few forms! RYCOR Online Forms, which can only be accessed via the PowerSchool Parent Portal, is expected to open after 12 p.m. on Mon., Aug. 24.
- Online School Payments (grades K-12)
Here’s some good news: Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, HCPS is waiving the laptop fee ($25), the science fee ($5) and the P.E. fee ($4)!
Some other classes (such as some of our Career and Technical Education options for limited in-person learning) may still require a fee. Beginning Monday, Aug. 24, Online School Payments allows families of middle- and high-schoolers to pay school fees electronically. If you haven’t used Online School Payments before, you’ll need to set up an account. If you need to set up a payment plan, please contact your school to make arrangements. (Also note that there is a 4% fee to pay with a credit card, which pays for the vendor’s costs. If you prefer to pay by check, please mail a check to your school with a copy of the obligation list from the online payment system highlighting the fees being paid.)
