Second Grade Update

October 24, 2016

Reading~ Writing~ Beginning of Unit 2

This week, we learned about many different text features. We read Baby Bears and worked on questioning and topic/details. We will continue reading nonfiction texts next week as we discuss life cycles and the growth and development of animals.

This week we studied 2-dimensional shapes. We worked to describe quadrilaterals and specifically, rectangles. We are learning about measuring area with squares and about describing the inside of a rectangle using the terms rows and columns. We will continue these investigations next week.

Social Studies

States, States, and more states! The students had fun learning about the states in the U.S. We explored the map and also talked about physical and human made features on the map. Ask your student about the intermediate directions of north and southeast and north and southwest.
