Harvest Time
The roots of education are bitter, but the fruits are sweet,
-Aristotle
In the area of Southern Idaho where I spent my formative years, this time of year was a busy one. The majority of folks were smack dab in the middle of harvesting anything from potatoes to sugar beets. We even had a high school dance aptly named Harvest! Around here, crops aren't a real hot commodity; however, we are planting the seeds for crops each day in our classrooms that will be harvested not once, but multiple times in the years to come. The roots that are growing right now can, at times, seem bitter to students, but the fruits that will benefit them in the future will be sweet. With the academic rigor, delivery of quality instruction, and caring that you as educators are using to cultivate these bitterly-established roots, I am certain that you are making our world a better place, and for that, I thank you!
