An Update from Ms. McFall
Wheaton JH/HS Families,
We hope everyone enjoyed their holidays! We are excited to have students back in the building and to begin second semester. As you know, the second half of school will fly by. It is important for students to stay on top of their work. Parents and guardians have access to their student's grades through Lumen. If you are unsure of how to login to Lumen, please contact the office and we can help you out.

Attendance Policy
Having good attendance is imperative when it comes to our students success. It is very important that they attend school every day. Life presents challenges sometimes and we are absent but it is extremely important that your child be at school every day when they are able.
If a student has excessive absenteeism they could be subject to attending summer school or losing credit.
Please see our handbook for the full description of our policy. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. McFall.
AMI (Alternative Method of Instruction)
A local education agency (LEA) will not be required to make up school hours that are lost or canceled due to exceptional or emergency circumstances (up to 36 hours). This allows our school district to implement alternative learning methods in place of up to 6 days of learning.
- Teachers will be working remotely and will be checking their email and Google Classroom throughout the day. Please reach out to your teachers with any questions.
- Students are responsible for logging on and completing their work.
- If you do not have stable internet at home, please call the office to check out a hotspot.
- Completing the assigned AMI work will result in your student being present and they will receive credit for their assignments.
Lumen Parent Portal
Grades are updated weekly by teachers. This is a quick and convenient way for you to find out how your child is progressing through the school year.
Lunch balances are updated daily through this portal. If you need to pay a lunch balance, you can do that through Dale at the HS office of Theresa at Central Office. If you need a free/reduced lunch form, please contact Dale.
If you are unsure of how to access Lumen as a parent, please contact the office.
Cell Phone/Electronic Devices Policy
Please partner with us on our cell phone/electronics policy. When students are being disrupted by their phones throughout the day, it makes it difficult for them to learn. We ask that if you need to get in touch with your child, please call the office phone and we can get them for you or get a message to them. If you text/call your child during the day, they are able to respond at the following times, passing time, lunch, and Bulldog Time if they do not have any Ds or Fs.
Passing Times:
9:06-9:10
9:58-10:02
10:50-10:54
Lunch- 11:42-12:16
1:04-1:08
1:56-2:00
Bulldog Time 2:52-3:15 (Students who do not have D/F grades can use their phones at this time)
Cell phones, headphones, ear phones, and smart watches must be turned off, put away and completely out of sight throughout the duration of class time. In the case of an emergency only, students will be allowed to use the school telephone to make phone calls.
Cell Phone/Electronics Violation
1st Offense- Item confiscated and can pick up at the end of the day
2nd Offense- Item confiscated and parent will pick up at the end of the day
