Electricity

Conductor

Materials that freely allow the flow of electrons.

Examples: water, copper and iron

- In my daily life I drink water and that is a conductor.

Semiconductor

Material that does not allow electrons to flow freely but don't directly stop them either.

Examples: silicon

- I use computers everyday, and the silicon in the computer is a semiconductor.

Insulators

Materials that greatly impede or stop the flow of electrons.

Examples: glass, dry air and rubber

- I open my window everyday in my room, and the glass is an example of an insulator.

Comparing

Conductors have very little resistance compared to Insulators. Semiconductors have more resistance than conductors but less than insulators
