Guidance - greetings from the counselor

Hello PCES/MS students and families.

I hope you have been enjoying the warmer weather we have been having, getting outside and exploring what is around your home. I know we are still not back to normal and there are a lot of things that we are not allowed to do, however things are looking up and there is always an ending to every story.

With that in mind I know these times are still stressful and we can always use new ways to help up in releasing that stress and the other emotions that come along with it, such as frustration, anger, sadness, boredom. I recently received a set of cards that offer a great many ways for that release and I thought I would start sharing some of them with you while we are still in lock down.

The directions are printed on the back of the cards and are very easy to follow.

The first card below is the Stormy Sea, I figured it was a good one to start with. The second card is a great one to follow up with the stormy sea and flows right into the third card.

And finally, this is my favorite time of the year, not because its spring, but because May 4th is Star Wars Day so I am including some Star Wars themed mandalas for you to enjoy with your family. (see the link below!)

I hope you enjoy these activities and the time you get to spend together as a family. Please remember that if you feel like you need to talk with me you can always email me at jschriver@sad4.org, or call my google voice number at 575-323-0856.

Take care and stay safe.

Mr. Schriver

Health

This week's Health exercise is to look into medicine. Look up some of the following basic terms and become familiar with them. There is a tremendous amount of misleading and sometimes dangerous information on the internet and on social media. Ask yourself when researching if the site you are reading is backed by science or is it someone else’s story. Can the same basic information be found on another reputable site? You can save yourself a lot of money with some understanding of medicine and what they can and can’t do. As always in Health, make the assignment helpful to you and have some fun with it.
