PVE IDOE Early Literacy Award
Dear PVE Parents/Guardians
I am beyond thrilled to announce to that our school, Pleasant View Elementary, received the first ever state Excellence in Early Literacy Award at last Friday's inaugural Educational Excellence Awards Gala, sponsored by the Indiana Department of Education and several different sponsors.
This award was presented to us as the largest school in the state (out of over 1600 schools) to achieve the highest school-wide IREAD-3 pass rate percentage, along with the highest pass rate across all student populations in 2022.

The IREAD-3 assessment is the state's reading proficiency assessment which is administered each spring to all third grade students. It serves as the state's measure on students' ability to read and comprehend third grade level texts.
This award recognizes and honors the dedicated, laser-focused, purposeful work of our entire PVE Staff which includes teachers, IAs, coaches, special education staff, administration, etc. We have collectively spent the last four years, even during the pandemic, refining and solidifying our literacy instruction through professional development and PLCs (professional learning communities focused on student data) to ensure the five pillars of reading (phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension) are not only prominent in each classroom, but also differentiated to maximize student growth.
Last, but not least - this award also honors the incredible HARD WORK of our current 4th grade students, who have worked alongside our staff and each other to grow their literacy skills over the years. We couldn't be more proud and excited for them as they are the cohort of students who took the IREAD-3 assessment in 2022!
In partnership of our PTO, we will be holding a school-wide celebration for all students and staff! Please see the section following some photos from the IDOE Excellence in Education Awards Gala for all the information about next Wednesday's Reach for the Stars RED CARPET GALA Day!
