AHS in the Know
Parents staying connected. Staying informed.
Week of October 19, 2020
I just want to take a minute to brag on our students! Holding a pep rally for over 2000 during a pandemic is not something that most high schools would be able to do. The only reason we were able to safely host such a successful, fun event last week was because of our amazing students!
Here's to another great week!

Students Returning to In-person Learning
Please report to the Distance Learning Center (DLC) just inside the foyer of AHS at 8:15 am on Monday to pick up your schedule. Student Ambassadors will be available to give tours and assist students in locating their classes. Counselors have created this Welcome Back Newsletter with additional information and will host Campus Orientation in room 411 during Flex on Monday. Make plans to attend and be sure you reach out to your counselor with any questions or concerns as you transition back to campus.
Don't forget to see Officer Rhodes in the front office for a parking sticker if you will be parking on campus. Students must present a copy of their DL, proof of insurance, and license plate number to be issued a parking sticker.

AISD Virtual College Fair 2020
With the start of the school year, colleges and universities have had to make major adjustments as well. Aledo High School is committed to providing the best virtual experience possible while high school students search for their future college and university. Aledo ISD will host a virtual college fair for our high school students and their parents on Thursday, October 22nd.
AISD Virtual College Fair Times
This annual college fair helps with the college decision-making process for all of our students. Students will be able to communicate live with college representatives:
Thursday, Oct 22nd, 6 pm to 8 pm
Getting the Most Out of the Virtual Experience
Students will need to register here for the virtual college fair. After registering, students will have access to explore the platform and the college booths at any time. Al list of participating colleges and universities can be found on the college fair platform. View the video here for information on how to navigate the virtual college fair.

Class Ring Orders - Oct 20-21
AP Exam Registration Deadline - Nov 6
It’s time to start encouraging your student to register for AP exams. All students need to indicate if they will or will not take an AP exam by November 6. This year, College Board has waived the test cancellation fee ($40). Students are encouraged to register to take the exam because there is no penalty if they change their minds closer to the exam date.
Students will access registration through their AP Classroom accounts. Remember, students need to select the “Register for Exam” button in order to mark an exam as yes or no. The exam fee this year is $95 ($21 for students who qualify for fee reduction). Fees will be paid online at a later date.
COVID-19 Tracking
Aledo ISD is tracking COVID-19 cases within our school Community. To do this we need your help – if your child ever tests positive for COVID-19 or shows symptoms consistent with COVID-19 or has close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, please click this link to complete our AISD COVID Reporting form. Our data will only be as accurate as what is reported to us. Please help us keep our entire community healthy and safe by providing this information as soon as it becomes known to you. To view the Aledo ISD COVID Dashboard, please click here.
What to Expect if there is a Positive Case at AHS
This past week, we notified all parents that a student tested positive that had been on campus. If that happens again, know that you will receive the required notification via email. If it has been determined that your student was in close contact with someone who tested positive, you will receive an additional notification.
Please Follow these Guidelines if someone in your family has tested positive or been in close contact with someone who has tested positive:
- If someone in your household tests positive, notify AISD immediately through the COVID Reporting Form and do not send anyone from the household to school.
- If someone with whom a student had close contact has tested positive, notify AISD immediately through the COVID Reporting Form and do not send that student to school.
